An Alabama couple were killed in two separate freak car wrecks after they each crashed into the same church just days apart.

Anthony Banks Jr., 19, died when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the Riverside Baptist Church.

The collision on June 20 sparked a massive blaze and resulted in the teen losing his life.

Three days later his girlfriend, Jennefer Arellano-Maldonado, 19, was killed in the same spot, after she crashed into the burnt out church whilst reportedly fleeing police.

Senior Alabama State Trooper Brandon Bailey told Alabama Live that Arellano-Maldonado was attempting to evade a Riverside police officer.

He said the teen was fleeing a 2019 BMW X5 which had been stolen from a family member.

The vehicle left the road and smashed into a brick wall before setting alight.

She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Banks' mom has set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses, where she paid tribute to her late son.

'He was in a horrible accident that took my precious baby boys life at such a young age he just turned 19 years old 17 days ago,' she wrote.

'His life hadn't even got started before he tragically taken from this world. As I write this tears flow uncontrollably praying for this all to be some nightmare we will all wake from soon.'

Friends also honored the tragic couple in posts on social media.

'My two loves, get some rest y'all will be missed. Anthony & Jennifer RIP,' one friend posted.
