Given he's one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, millions of hearts were broken around the world when Harry Styles was linked to Taylor Russell last year. 

While the pair were fiercely private about their romance, over the months there were  stolen glimpses of the fashionable couple out on romantic walks, attending concerts together and enjoying holidays. 

Earlier this year, it was claimed the 30-year-old singer was 'besotted' with Taylor and was hoping to start a family with the 29-year-old actress. 

Yet within weeks of making the bold declaration everything appears to have fallen apart for the pair.  

So where did things go wrong for Hollywood's hottest couple? 

After a high profile romance with Olivia Wilde, 40, and in turn being dragged into the circus of the catastrophic Don't Worry Darling press circuit it was understandable that Harry wanted to keep his his next relationship low-key. 

Speculation over the drama off-screen famously overshadowed talk of the film itself, and pictures of the cast on the red carpet were scrutinised, analysed and dissected by fascinated fans. 

There was talk of a feud between director Olivia and main star Florence Pugh, 28, and allegations that Olivia's romance with Harry made crew members uncomfortable. 

It was claimed that leading lady Florence and on-screen lover Harry shared an off-screen 'kiss' during filming - a revelation that was said to be the root of the uproar. 

There were also questions about the timeline of Harry's romance with Olivia, who is 10-years his senior. 

Filming kicked off in October 2020, and one month later, Olivia announced that she and fiancé Jason Sudeikis, 48, had gone their separate ways after 10 years together.

When the actress was spotted holding hands with the former One Direction member months later, rumors started to swirl that she had cheated on her fiancé with the British superstar, however, she has repeatedly denied that she was unfaithful to Jason.

'The complete horses**t idea that I left Jason for Harry is completely inaccurate,' she told Vanity Fair.

Regardless of how their romance started, sources then claimed that it upset Florence, with one insider telling Page Six: 'Flo seeing Olivia and Harry all over each other on set did not go down well.'

A source also told Vulture that Olivia and Florence once got into a 'screaming match' over Olivia's 'frequent, unexplained absences' on set, during which she'd 'disappear' to spend time with Harry.

Harry and Olivia ultimately dated from January 2021 until November 2022.

While the breakup was said to be amicable, it was reported that the pair's 'different priorities' in life were the cause of their split, with a source noting they had struggled with the 'public pressure' on their romance.

Harry was no stranger to a high profile romance by this point, previously linked to a string of A-list women, from Taylor Swift, to Kendall Jenner and French model Camille Rowe. 

In the wake of his split from Olivia, pictures of him sharing a passionate kiss with model Emily Ratajkowski went viral. 

Tragedy came in 2020, when his former girlfriend and The X Factor host, Caroline Flack, committed suicide.

Their relationship had been controversial at the time. Harry was 14 years Caroline's junior, and just 17 when the pair briefly dated in 2011 – with friends saying he he had been devastated by their breakup.

Yet it appeared last year that Harry had found his happy ending when he began dating Taylor - an established actor but not with the level of fame that could compare to Harry's. 

She had no experience dating in the limelight, with no confirmed high profile romances, however she was was previously linked to Waves co-star Lucas Hedges and Bones And All co-star Timothee Chalamet. 

Taylor did admit, however, that she struggled with letting people into her inner circle and explained how she had entered the new relationship during a period of uncertainty in her life. 

Shortly after being linked to Harry, Taylor admitted in an interview with The Face that she struggled to trust people but noted: 'It’s something that has been a big part of my life this past year.' 

She added: 'I really want to live an open life and meet somebody and be real and honest and truthful with them. You can’t really live an open life if you aren’t sharing of yourself while you ask another person to share of themselves with you. 

'But I’ve found it increasingly harder to do that, and I’m trying to challenge myself in that way right now.' 

Elsewhere in the interview, the Canadian beauty admitted she was adapting to living in London despite being a 'homebody', explaining: 'When I came here I was like, ​“You know what, Taylor, this is a new place. You’re not in America, not in Canada. You have to open up and allow people to know you."'

Despite their differences, Harry was said to be smitten with the actress, with a source telling the Mail in March that the star wanted to have children with Taylor. 

The insider shared: 'Harry feels as if he has lived ten lifetimes already, but one thing is certain – his 30s will be nothing like his 20s. 

'He has experienced all the fame anyone could ever want. He is now ready for the next chapter. 

'He is in love with Taylor. He wants a family with her and this is the next phase of his life.'

Despite this he is said to have amicably ended their relationship weeks later following a make-or-break trip to Japan. 

The pair, who started dating 14-months ago, were last seen riding bikes together during an appearance in capital city Tokyo in April. 

Weeks later Taylor appeared at the star-studded New York Met Gala without Harry. who notably remained on the other side of the Atlantic in London. 

Friends have since claimed the couple opted to end the relationship after spending time together in the far east. 

A source told The Sun: 'Harry and Taylor have ended their relationship. They went through a rough patch after their trip to Japan and are taking some time apart.

'He’s been in America and she’s been in London. They made a lovely couple and it was obvious Taylor made Harry happy.

'Things have become strained recently though and they’ve taken some time out.' 

While 'time out' could indicate that a reconciliation could occur, for heartthrob Harry there will surely be no shortage of suitors putting themselves forward to become the next Mrs Styles.
