Fred Kerley's wife claims the Olympic sprinter is a 'serial cheat' who battered her to a pulp following affair confrontation

Olympic sprinter Fred Kerley's estranged wife relived the horrifying moment she thought she would 'die at his hands', in an emotional interview with DailyMail.com.

Angelica, the mother of their three young children said she battled for air as the Team USA track superstar choked her during the alleged early morning attack in the bedroom of their home just south of Miami.

Former college heptathlete Angelica revealed Kerley only stopped and fled after their 9-year-old daughter Mia bravely tackled her super fit six-feet three-inches father from behind, and began desperately clawing at his eyes.

Kerley, a silver and bronze 100 meters Olympic medalist, was released from jail on bond on January 4.

His charges were related to the alleged attack – and from a separate incident where he was tased by police during a night out in Miami Beach with his new lover.

Now 30-year-old Angelica is speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com about the inside story of her turbulent 10-year relationship with the track icon – claiming he's a serial cheater who leads a 'double life'.

Angelica said Fred Kerley dragged her off the bed which led her to land face first on the wooden floor, bashing her nose

Fred Kerley's attorney labeled her account 'fabrications,' pointing out they were not sufficient for cops to arrest him at the time.

‘The only ones being hurt by these imaginative claims are their three young children who will remember how their mother sacrificed their privacy and their father’s reputation for fleeting fame,’ said lawyer Richard Cooper.

The alleged brutal attack in May 2024 happened after she says she felt compelled to confront Kerley about a woman she was certain he was seeing in summer 2023 – and the 'half naked women he was following on Instagram'.

Kerley, who featured in both seasons of the hit Netflix docuseries Sprint, subsequently stormed out of the $1million five-bedroom home they shared. And in the emotional rollercoaster of their relationship, Angelica says she innocently followed an old flame on Instagram ‘because, hey, you can do it, so can I’.

That proved to be a spark which ignited his fury, she said.

Kerley, 29, returned one morning at 6am and 'bust in our bedroom door' while Angelica was sleeping with her two small sons – the youngest only a few months old.

Angelica told DailyMail.com that Kerley returned in the morning after storming out and attacked her - only stopping after their then-eight-year-old daughter clawed at his eyes

Kerley was charged with domestic battery with strangulation and strong-arm robbery for his attack on Angelica and battery on an officer and resisting arrest after being arrested on January 2 after a night out with DJ Cleo Rahman

At one point during the attack, Angelica yelled for Kerley's uncle and aunt, who were staying at the house. They tried in vain to pull him away from her

'He doesn't have a shirt on, he doesn't have shoes on. He walks up to me and tries to snatch my phone, asking why I'm following that man,' said the mom, who is six inches shorter than her 205lb muscled-up husband.

'He then comes around and is snatching at me. I take my left hand and swing it across his face, not hard but because he's at me. It's like, back up.

'He stands back, he looks at me and he says, "if you put your hands on me again, we're gonna have issues". I'm standing up on the bed in my nightclothes… and he charges me.'

As his alleged aggression hit a crescendo, she described his next move: 'He drags me off the bed and I land face first on the wooden floor, bashing my nose.'

Talking calmly in the living room of her modern new home in San Angelo, Texas, where she's been living since the alleged attack, Angelica demonstrated with her arms what she said happened next.

'He still tries to grab my phone which I slide under me. So I'm on my stomach on the floor. He takes his arm and he wraps it around my neck and he's literally choking me,' she displayed.

'And he's not choking me where I can gasp for air. I can't gasp for air at this point. And I'm literally tapping him. Like I can't even swing at him because of the way he has my body – the lower half is on the floor, the top half is bent back and lifted up.'

Making paddling motions with her hands, she said: 'Literally my feet are kicking at this point. And I'm thinking, he's going to kill me. Our kids are in the room and he's going to kill me. I'm trying to hit him.

'And I'm losing any sense of how long he's been choking me. Finally he lets me go and I breathe in as hard as I can so I can scream out loud.'

Angelica said she desperately yelled for Kerley's uncle and aunt, who were staying at the house, to come in and protect her as her husband once more advanced on her.

'They try to pull him away from me again and I manage to stand, pick up a lamp and swing it at him to defend myself. I'm telling him he needs to leave,' she calmly continued.

'My daughter, who was eight at the time, was woken by all this, comes in and grabs the baby who is crying. And my husband comes around the back of me, grabs me around the neck with his arm and tries to choke me again.

'Now my daughter is behind him, with her baby brother in her arms. She puts the baby down and she's behind Fred, clawing at his eyes to get him off me. At this point I didn't even know that. I just knew he was doing this in front of our kids.'

Angelica met Kerley when they were teenage track stars at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas

Kerley pulled away but eventually grabbed Angelica's phone before dashing out of the house and driving off.

'At this point I'm in like defense mode and I'm just like, did this really happen? This man is really crazy. Has he lost his everlasting mind? That's how I felt,' she added.

But Angelica, who met Kerley when they were teenage track stars at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, said she got another chilling blow when he returned with her phone that same day.

'I'm outside and he comes up to me with this deranged look in his eyes.' Motioning the actions of a gun being fired, she said: 'And then he takes his hand and he goes like this to me.

'And I'm thinking, "what are you doing? I'm feeling like you didn't feel any remorse for what you just did". And it makes me really feel like you think that you could get away with something like this.'

Before that point, she'd put off calling the police.

'But I realized that this had happened in front of my daughter and she had tried to save me. She's old enough to remember this, burned in her brain,' she said.

'It happens a lot, women not reporting men who put their hands on them, or trying to take their lives.

Angelica decided to call the police against her husband after he came up to her and imitated shooting her with a gun using his hands while he had a 'deranged look in his eyes'

Angelica has been pressing Kerley for a divorce since the alleged attack and years of infidelity

'So it's my responsibility as a woman to show my daughter that these things are not OK. It doesn't matter that it's her dad. I probably wouldn't have called the cops if she'd not been there.'

Answering online trolls who have slammed her for the accusations, she responded: 'At what point did he think about his children? At what point did he think about the consequences to his actions?

'Why do I as a victim have to think about those things for him?'

Kerley – who won 100m silver at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, bronze in the Paris games last year and gold at the 2022 World Championships – was arrested just before midnight on January 2 after a night out with reality TV star and DJ Cleo Rahman.

Police in South Beach blocked his car to investigate the scene. The track star had an 'aggressive demeanor' and ignored orders to move to the sidewalk as he tried to force his way through, officers said.

Bodycam footage showed a subsequent scuffle, which resulted in Kerley being thrown to the ground and punched repeatedly before being zapped with a Taser and handcuffed – Rahman was also arrested.

The athlete was charged with battery on an officer and resisting arrest.

But Angelica's domestic violence accusations, which had been slowly moved along the system by police, were finally addressed – leading to domestic battery with strangulation and strong-arm robbery being added to his rap sheet.

Angelica said her decision to proceed with the charges was to set an example for their daughter and she knew the domestic violence the now-nine-year-old witnessed would be 'burned into her head'

Angelica was asked by Kerley's attorney to speak in defense of him at Saturday's hearing, but she insisted in a video call from Texas that she wanted the charges to proceed

Angelica was asked by Kerley's attorney to speak in defense of him at Saturday's hearing, but she insisted in a video call from Texas that she wanted the charges to proceed.

'I feel like he goes to jail, he'll leave me alone,' she told DailyMail.com. 'So I can't lie about that. I don't want him to have to miss out on our kids' lives. But that's a choice that he made. Now he has to face the consequences of his actions.'

Angelica has been pressing Kerley for a divorce since the alleged attack and years of infidelity.

At the only point in the two-hour interview where she broke down, the young mom said the final straw was when she was pregnant with her now one-year-old son.

She alleged the athlete hooked up with a woman on one of his regularly trips to Germany for medical treatment.

Referring to a jaunt in June 2023, a woman with the Instagram name islandblanche wrote to her saying: 'I just want to let you know that when I was with your husband in Germany I had no idea he had a wife and three kids.

'I just recently found out that he's married and you were expecting a baby when I was with him. Please accept my apologies as I did not know that Fred has a family. You have my continual prayers that your family will prevail.'

A skeptical Angelica replied simply: 'Proof?' The woman sent back a selfie of her with Kerley in the bathroom of what Angelica knew was his hotel room – plus images of flight tickets for her to Germany which appear to be bought in his name.

While she was pregnant with their son, Angelica received a message from a woman while Kerley was on a trip to Germany for medical treatment. She sent proof they'd been together by sending her plane ticket bought by Kerley

Angelica shockingly revealed she'd never been to any of her husband's professional track meets or 'seen him in all his Olympic glory'.

'But he buys this woman tickets to Germany apparently,' she said incredulously. 'At first I thought, this can't be real.'

Kerley was overseas when the woman messaged and Angelica tried desperately to contact him.

'I get through and he shuts down, immediately gets quiet,' she said. 'And he insists she's lying. And I'm losing it. I'm spiraling in postpartum depression and this sent me over the edge.'

Recounting that vulnerable moment with tears in her eyes, she said: 'And I tell him I'm crying and I tell him, you always find a way to ruin my happiness. Every chance you get, you try to take it away.'

Angelica and Kerley had their daughter a year after they started dating and two years before he turned professional, signing a deal with Nike. They moved homes regularly from Texas to Arizona to Florida to California as his career has blossomed.

But she says she has no idea how much money he's raking in – and adds she has no private control of any wealth for her own independence while she's battling the star for a divorce.

Her suspicions of infidelity go back to 2017, when she said Kerley came back from an overseas track meet and she was horrified to discover condoms in his bag.

The only point she became emotional in the interview with DailyMail.com was when she spiraled into postpartum depression after discovering his infidelity in Germany

Angelica also claimed he has had an affair with a well-known woman athlete, but was dumped by her in November

She also claimed he has had an affair with a well-known woman athlete, but was dumped by her in November.

Angelica, who says she still loves her estranged husband 'but not in the same way', said his behavior is part of a pattern that began when he turned pro and began deleting all reference to her in his social media posts. But he frequently needed reassurance that she loved him.

'It's like he wanted to hide me and hide his family' she says. 'After we got married in Phoenix in 2021 he wore his wedding ring for just a couple of weeks.

'The reason? For him to cheat and to be able to lead a double life. And that's exactly what he's been doing.

'It's like he can go and do that and he saw me as his back-up... a retirement plan. Like an insurance policy. Like, he's thinking, if I don't find something in all these other people, I already have a family at home. An end game, but I still want to do the things I want to do.'

Angelica, who gave up her college psychology studies when she became pregnant, has made it a goal to restart it.

'I'm looking forward to moving on with my life, finding my happiness,' she said. 'Having my kids be happy, not being depressed or stressed out in front of them.

'I've never kept Fred from his kids. As long as they want to see him, I'm fine with that. But for me, I want to be free of him.'
