Taco Bell has provoked the ire of its customers by reducing its soft drink cup sizes.

An employee at the Mexican fast-food staple alleged that their medium soft drinks have been downsized following a cup change.

One Reddit user, claiming to be a Taco Bell employee, posted a side-by-side picture of the old and new medium cups on the site.

The new cup, reportedly rolled out in June, appears to be shorter than the original 20-ounce medium cup.

'I work at Taco Bell and with the recent delivery me and a coworker noticed that the medium cups have been downsized,' the poster wrote.

A Taco Bell employee posted the new cup sizes on social media

Taco Bell customers have expressed outrage at the apparent downsizing

'I filled the smaller of the two cups all the way to the top and poured it into the original medium cup.

'It came up about a half inch from the top,' the employee explained.

'The new cups are definitely smaller, but probably only by an [ounce] or two.'

Other Reddit users agreed with the poster, revealing their own recent purchases in the comments.

'The cup on the left is the medium that came with my Cravings Box two days ago' one user wrote.

XXX are these comments in relation to the pic above?

'The one on the right was today's and I immediately knew something was off. Why the change? So they can save one ounce of soda?' they asked.

'Honestly we need to start boycotting,' one incensed customer wrote.

'I'm done with Taco Bell until they come to their senses. Absolutely insane,' a third added.

Taco Bell did not respond to DailyMail.com's request for comment.

California-based Taco Bell was founded in 1962 by Glen Bell.

It now has more than 8,000 locations across the world and is owned by PepsiCo's Yum! Brands.
