Horrific tragedy struck moments after female rapper shared photo inviting fans to meet-and-greet at newly-opened Oakland beauty store

A female rapper and entrepreneur invited fans to meet her at the grand opening of a new Oakland beauty store - but was then tragically murdered at the event.

The singer, known as Tan DaGod, was murdered around 5pm Saturday, just hours after she unveiled Glamor Beauty Supply to excited fans. 

Oakland Police Department said another person was also shot but survived, and officers were still working to identify the shooter as of Monday evening. 

Videos of the rapper's final hours show her beaming with pride as she showed fans around the store on the intersection of 40th Street and Telegraph Avenue in northern Oakland. 

In clips shared to her 20,000 Instagram followers, she gave fans an animated tour of the store while wearing a black and white furry jacket and large silver necklace. 

Friends and supporters, including some with small children, were seen dancing and celebrating the opening in sunny scenes in the parking lot outside the shop. 

Tan also shared photographs of herself sat on a golden throne beside a bright pink and purple floral display inside the new store. 

But hours later, shots rang out at the store and the rapper was killed by a shooter who remains on the loose. 

During the shooting, shoppers ducked for cover in a nearby donut store. People are seen crouching close to the ground in terror in shocking footage. 

Oakland Police Department said another person was shot during the horrific incident, and they were treated at the hospital. They are expected to recover.  

By the evening, devastated friends and relatives gathered outside Glamor Beauty Supply to lay flowers and tributes to the music artist. 

One person was seen sobbing on the ground a a friend consoled them, beside a scattering of red roses left by mourners.  

Hip hop artist Mistah F.A.B posted a tribute to Tan on Instagram, saying he was booked to be at the store opening with her but 'God had other plans'. 

'The violence is beyond understanding the hurt the pain the trauma has made a forever lasting impact,' he wrote beside a photo of Tan. 

'@tan.dagod I will always remember you as a hustling ass go getter, with a world of ambition, drive and courage and a heart big as TEXAS!!!!'

It comes just days after it was revealed that crime-ridden Oakland has just 35 officers on patrol across the city at any given moment. 

Oakland is a city of around 435,000 residents, meaning that there is just one cop on patrol for every 12,500 citizens at any given moment. 

The department is made up of 705 officers, but is only authorized by the city to have 678. Similarly sized Miami has over 1,100 sworn members of its police force and Long Beach, California has 824 officers.

Oakland has been savaged by violent crime in recent months, including 53 homicides year to date for the week ending July 7, according to Oakland Police Department data.

There have been 1,660 reported robberies, 4,542 burglaries and 6,810 motor vehicle thefts.

Oakland's progressive  mayor Sheng Thao and its progressive DA Pamela Price both face recall elections later this year over soaring crime in the Bay Area city.
