Russell Brand got paid nearly $70,000 to appear at Robert F Kennedy's campaign event last month - where he claimed the CIA had infiltrated the media - but has since endorsed Donald Trump, according to a new report.
Kennedy's campaign splashed more than $68,000 to Brand's production company to cover the cost of the comedian's travel expenses, and that of his crew.
This includes two separate payments of $61,000 and $7,000 for 'event entertainment.'
The British actor and comedian had appeared at a comedy event for Kennedy's long-shot presidential bid in Nashville, Tennessee, alongside other performers such as Rob Schneider and Jim Breuer.
As part of his short set, Brand spewed conspiracy theories which were welcomed by supporters of Kennedy, who is one of America's most prominent anti-vaxxers.
But despite his hefty pay-check from the presidential candidate, Brand encouraged Americans to vote for Trump on his podcast 'Stay Free with Russell Brand' a few weeks later.

In his set Mr Brand talked about similar conspiracy theories to his online TV shows and podcasts, where he mocks coronavirus mandates and vaccine requirements

While he didn't outright endorse the former US president, he said he found it difficult to understand why 'freedom-loving' Americans would choose to vote for President Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
The comedian, who has been vocal against censorship, said he felt 'concerned' about the 'snobbery, contempt and condemnation' by liberals of Trump supporters who are 'plainly held by his detractors', adding that they have been responsible for the 'weaponization of the legal system'.
'In a straight choice between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, if you care about democracy, if you care about freedom, I don't know how you could do anything other than vote for Donald Trump for precisely the reasons that they claim that you can't,' Brand said.
