Terrifying footage shows a huge explosion inside a Chase Bank in downtown Ohio that left seven people injured as two others remain missing.

The blast in Youngstown, which occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, damaged the Realty building on E. Federal Street and blew off the façade, WKBN reported.

A horrifying CCTV clip showed the structure as it was ripped into pieces before enormous plumes of smoke rose from the ground.

Fire Chief Barry Finley confirmed two people are missing, one man and one woman, and stated everyone else in the building has been located.

'The floor is collapsed in on itself, there's nothing to see, it's full of water, so honestly, we don't know if that person is down there or not,' Finley said.

'When we get clearance to go into the building… until then, I will not put any of my firefighters down there to do a search for any reason right now.'

The wife of the missing man and his coworker both reported that he came to work at the bank on Tuesday, but has not since been located.

The seven injured people were taken to Mercy Health Hospital, with one patient in critical condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

A social media post by the Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency said there was a natural gas explosion and the situation is 'fluid but under control.' The agency asked people to avoid the area until further notice.

Firefighters helped some people get out of the building, which houses a Chase Bank on the ground floor and also has some apartments.

Residents reported hearing a loud boom and seeing smoke coming from the site.

Crews are working to assess the structural integrity of the building and gas has been shut off to the entire block as a safety precaution

'I heard the boom, and I looked up and I could see dark smoke coming out of the side of the Chase Bank building… but it was such a really strong, strong boom, you know, I blurted out, "Oh my God",' said Debora Flora, executive director of Mahoning County Land Bank who works downtown.

'When I got to the lobby, there was kind of like a metal gate door that had been bowed in, and the rubble from the lobby... the broken-up rock and marble had jammed itself so I was there with my cat in a carrier kind of trying to push the door open,' said resident Justin Reynolds.

Crews are working to assess the structural integrity of the building and gas has been shut off to the entire block as a safety precaution, spokesperson for Enbridge Gas Ohio told the local news outlet.

The spokesperson noted it has not been confirmed if a natural gas explosion was the cause of the blast.
