Walmart e-scooters urgently recalled after brakes failing at high speed leads to smashed teeth and broken bones

Walmart e-scooters have been urgently recalled after dozens of reports of brake failure. 

Hover-1 Dynamo e-scooters, sold exclusively online at Walmart.com, have been recalled by their manufacturer DGL Group after the company received 22 reports of the e-scooter's brakes failing.

'Consumers should stop using the recalled e-scooters immediately and contact DGL Group for instructions on how to receive a full refund,' the recall notice by the Consumer Product Safety Commission read.

Seven injuries, including fractured teeth and a dislocated shoulder, were caused by the $200 scooters.

The 4,200 affected scooters have the letter 'WY' as the seventh and eighth letter in the serial number and were sold between November 2021 and July 2022.

E-scooter owners can check the serial number to check if their scooter is effected 

The serial number is located on a label on the scooter's underside. 

The scooters are matte black with a kick stand and reflective lights at the front and back of the stand board. 

The Hover-1 logo appears on the stand board, on the bottom of the stem and on the middle of the stem.

In order to receive a refund e-scooter, owners must send the New Jersey-based company photographs of their scooters serial number and severed motor cable. 

Earlier this year, Walmart was hit with another recall when beds sold in its stores was found to have collapsing frames

Nearly half a million of the problematic bed frames were sold at stores like Walmart and Wayfair between July 2018 and November 2023.

The recall was announced in January after 128 claims that the bed had collapsed and 36 reported injuries.

Manufactured in Malaysia, the Tufted Upholstered Low Profile Standard Bed retailed for between $100 and $300 and.

There were 527,177 of the dangerous beds in the U.S. and additional 55,847 in Canada

'The recalled beds can break, sag or collapse during use, posing fall and injury hazards to consumers,' the recall stated. 

'Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled beds and contact Home Design for free replacement slats and side rails,' the recall urged.
