A former San Francisco 49ers player believes that his team was victim of bad referees in Super Bowl LVIII.
It's been over two months since the Niners lost in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs, who won back-to-back Super Bowl titles.
But three-time Pro Bowl safety Donte Whitner told the Up and Adams Show that his former team was victim to bad reffing - and possibly more.
'When we think about the Super Bowl... I think that the 49ers played against the refs as well, guys,' Whitner told host Kay Adams.
'I think that when we look at that film and you see bear hugs on those defensive ends, right?
Ex-49ers safety Donte Whitner believes the team 'played against the refs' in the Super Bowl
He even believes that the team 'played against Taylor Swift' when they lost to the Chiefs
'You really see it in blatant moments in the game, the 49ers played against Taylor Swift, the refs, and the Kansas City.'
Officials for the game called an even six penalties for both teams in Super Bowl LVIII.
In fact, the 49ers were only hit for 40 penalty yards while the Chiefs were penalized for 55 yards.
But still, there's the possibility that the referees could have missed a call in the contest.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed a last-second touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman in the end zone to win the game.
