Aaron Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and doubled down on his belief that he was right for refusing to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
Rodgers was in ESPN's studios overlooking the East River in New York City and spoke to McAfee briefly about the vaccine.
He believes he 'went through a lot of s**t' and that in refusing the vaccine, he's standing up for 'free speech'.
'As I sit here today, I feel like I'm definitely on the right side of history and went through a lot of s**t for an opinion that was my own personal belief based on what was best for my body,' Rodgers said.
'And in an era of censorship and quelling free speech, I'm glad that I took the stand that I did and welcoming more and more people to the side of freedom and free speech.'
Aaron Rodgers believes that he is 'on the right side of history' for his Covid vaccine stance
Rodgers received backlash after suggesting he was vaccinated by saying he was 'immunized' back in 2021 when, in reality, he never got the jab and then violated many NFL rules
Despite these controversies, Rodgers still won the 2021 MVP Award - his fourth honor
Back when vaccines were made widely available in 2021, Rodgers refused to get one - saying that it was his personal choice to not get the jab.
Rodgers tested positive for Covid in the 2021 season and missed ten days of action per the league's policy for unvaccinated players.
It was believed that Rodgers misled the public when he said he was 'immunized' when asked by reporters if he got the vaccine. In fact, he actually received homeopathic treatment from his doctor.
As a result, he committed multiple league violations for unvaxxed players - including attending parties with teammates while not wearing PPE and going unmasked at post-game press conferences. He was fined nearly $15,000 for these violations.
By the end of the season, his vaccine controversy didn't prevent him from taking home a fourth MVP Award at the year's end.
Rodgers is known for his purported belief in conspiracy theories, alternative medicine, and the positive usage of psychedelic drugs.
