Accused mushroom lunch chef Erin Patterson lists her $1million 'holiday home' up for sale

1 year ago 47

Erin Patterson - the woman accused of three murders at a mushroom lunch - has listed one of her properties up for sale.

Patterson, 49, was charged with three counts of murder after her former parents-in-law Don and Gail Patterson, both 70, and Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson, 66, died after eating a beef Wellington pie at a family meal on July 29

The mother-of-two has also been charged with five counts of attempted murder, which relate to the sole survivor of the lunch - Heather's husband Ian, 68 - and four alleged attempts to kill her ex-husband, Simon Patterson.

Patterson's two-storey townhouse in Mount Waverley, in Melbourne's south-east, was placed on the market on October 27, six days before her arrest.

Patterson (pictured) has been charged with murdering three relatives and attempting to kill two others - including her ex husband

Daily Mail Australia understands the property was the Pattersons' holiday house and has remained largely unoccupied - with the exception of family vacations - since it was purchased in 2019 for $931,000.

The three bedroom home - which also has three bathrooms and a double garage - is listed for auction on November 18, with a price guide of $960,000 to $1,050,000.

However, sources have told Daily Mail Australia that real estate agents believe the property is unlikely to go under the hammer after a bidder placed a promising offer last Monday.

Prospective buyers have been told the house is up for sale due to 'rising interest rates'.

Records show Patterson, who has personal ties to Mount Waverley, became the sole proprietor of the property in February 2021 - about the time she separated from her husband.

According to the real estate advertisement, the 'wonderfully positioned' property is 'equally suited to those starting out or downsizing as it is for families and investors'.

The townhouse, which is one in a block of two, sits nestled at the end of a private driveway

The home features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a double garage. Pictured is the main bedroom

'Quietly tucked at the rear of only two, the residence takes great care in providing a comfortable lifestyle with the lounge room enriched with large windows, while the dining zone is accompanied by a well-equipped kitchen complete with a Bosch dishwasher,' the description reads.

'Creating an invitation for summer BBQs, sliding doors open from the dining zone out onto an alfresco deck, while the rear of the home presents children and pets with space to play or set up a trampoline.

'Extra benefits include a laundry, ducted heating, split system air conditioning, under stair storage, high ceilings plus a remote-control double garage with backyard roller door.'

The house has an outdoor patio area, which is accessible via the kitchen

Patterson was arrested at her home on November 2 before specialist teams with sniffer dogs carried out a search of her home in Leongatha, where the alleged deadly lunch took place almost four months ago.

She was then taken to Wonthaggi police station, where she was later charged and spent the night in a cell before appearing at LaTrobe Valley Magistrates' Court.

Prosecutors requested a 20-week delay before her next appearance so computer equipment seized from her home could be analysed.

Patterson made no attempt at bail, but her lawyer, Ben Doogue, is expected to make an application in coming weeks.

In the interim, she will remain behind bars at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, a notorious women's prison, situated in Ravenhall, in Melbourne's western outskirts.

She is next due before the court on May 3, 2024, where she is expected to appear in court via video link.
