Ali Brigginshaw and Kate Daly are the power couple of the NRLW, but they had to overcome a challenging start to their relationship when Kate thought the footy star was a 'b***h'.

Raised in Ipswich, Brigginshaw has become a significant figure in the rise of women's rugby league in Australia, known for her leadership, skill - and most of all, her toughness on the footy field.

She has played for the Brisbane Broncos since the NRLW's inaugural season in 2018 and has captained the side to three premierships, also captaining the Queensland Maroons and the Australian Jillaroos teams.

Ali and Kate made their relationship public in October 2018 when they kissed in the stands after the Brisbane Broncos won their first premiership title.

In December 2019, Ali proposed to Kate at her 30th birthday party. In a January interview, Ali shared that she and Kate decided to elope a year after getting engaged

Brisbane, Queensland and Australian captain Ali Brigginshaw and Kate Daly (now Brigginshaw) made their relationship public in 2018

Kate has been Ali's biggest supporter and their couple have regularly been seen embracing in the stands after a win, with their kiss after a game making their relationship public

The Queensland and Australian captain cuts a fearsome figure on the footy field and never takes a backward step.

Now she has revealed that her glamourous wife [now Kate Brigginshaw] was the first woman to stop her in her tracks.

'We first met in 2009, and I was so intimidated by (Kate). She was so pretty, and because of that I didn't have the courage to talk to her,' Brigginshaw told News Corp

'She thought I was a b**ch because I never spoke to her, but I was just so intimidated by her looks.'

Their paths would cross again and the women became friends at first.

'We just clicked. It was easy from the get go. It was like I'd needed that time to grow,' Brigginshaw said.

Ali admitted that Kate thought she was a 'b**ch' in the early days because she was too intimated by her good looks to speak to her

The couple have shared the red carpet at many major events in recent years, including the Dally M awards (pictured)

While that friendship quickly blossomed into a relationship, the NRLW star admits that opposites attract because they have little in common.

'We didn't have the same interests at all,' she says.

'We were complete opposites. She didn't even know I played rugby league. She just liked me for me. It's cool to be with someone who's different from you.'

Kate has two children, Addision and Alfie, from a previous relationship and Ali quickly adapted to life as a mother in the relationship.

'I always knew I wanted to be a mum, but I just didn't know how that was going to fit into my future,' she said.

'When I met Kate and she had the kids, it was like a dream come true. I love being around kids. You are constantly learning along the way. Sometimes it's challenging, but it's rewarding beyond words.'

Ali has adapted to the role of mother smoothly with Kate's children Addision and Alfie

Kate couldn't be happier now and recently posted a tribute to Ali and thanked her for everything she does for their family

Kate recently penned a touching Mother's Day tribute to Ali.

'Ali is the epitome of goodness, we've been raising our kids together for the majority of their lives and she has not missed a beat,' Kate wrote on Instagram.

'Being a step parent is/can be a thankless job. It's a role that involves a lot of responsibility and very little glory.

'It takes a very special person to love and care for someone else's kids and that in itself deserves the utmost respect and recognition.

'Our family isn't defined by last names or by blood; it's defined by commitment and by love.

'Thankyou for choosing to love all of us. Thankyou for helping me raise our kids. Thank you for being a wonderful role model and ultimate partner in life. Thankyou for being their Mum.'
