Amateur jockey Alice Procter has been taken into intensive care after a serious fall at Cartmel racecourse on Saturday.
The 21-year-old underwent an operation after being rushed to a major trauma centre following the accident and is remaining under the observation of medical professionals.
Procter was racing in a female riders' handicap hurdle event onboard the horse Uggy Uggy Uggy but came off and immediate medical attention was rushed to the scene.
Delays to the remaining two races of the day were imposed as Procter was attended to with her injuries requiring an air ambulance to attend the scene.
The injured jockey reportedly complained of back pain in the immediate aftermath of being unseated.

She was then flown by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital and sped through for an operation that has now been completed.
Family have gathered with her at the hospital with a statement published by the Injured Jockeys' Fund providing an update.
'Amateur jockey Alice Procter had a fall at Cartmel Racecourse yesterday [Saturday] and immediately reported back pain,' the statement began.

'She was flown by helicopter to the major trauma centre at Royal Preston Hospital.
'Following scans, she was then taken to the operating theatre under the care of the spinal team.
'She is now in the ICU with her family in attendance. Further updates will be issued in due course.'
Procter is the daughter of Doug and Lucy Procter whose stud helped breed the renowned dual Champion Hurdle winner Honeysuckle.
