An American diner was traumatized by the 'worst Michelin star restaurant in the world' where the bill was over $800 and she ate 'lip gloss' and a 'belly button'.
Chloe Jade Meltzer shared a viral review of her meal at Mugaritz in San Sebastián, Spain, saying some customers were so horrified by the food they refused to pay and police had to be called.
Mugaritz has two Michelin stars and sets out to 'weave a tale of stories, gestures and emotions around the table' with 23 courses of mixed savory and sweet foods.
But Meltzer said the meal was so bad she felt sick even remembering it, saying on TikTok: 'The flavors were just bad, some of the produce was nice, but it seemed like this was almost a social experiment.'
In her videos a fellow customer could be seen loudly arguing with staff as Meltzer said they refused to pay for the meal and police had to be called.

One of the dishes was a kefir and almond oil creation in the shape of a 'belly button' that you are 'supposed to suck weird juice out of'
Sharing clips of her meal on TikTok, Meltzer said: 'I truly cannot believe how bad this restaurant was, it is a two Michelin star restaurant so it just doesn’t make any sense.'
Meltzer described the first of the 23 dishes as like eating 'lip gloss' as she scooped a thick fish goop out of tub.
Next up was a 'sea rash' which Meltzer said was 'literally just like a soggy cigar'.
Then came a kefir and almond oil creation in the shape of a 'belly button' that you are 'supposed to suck weird juice out of.'
For the rest of the meal, the dishes switched between sweet and savory, including 'old bucatini' and blue cheese that Meltzer said 'I felt sick after'.
Then came what Meltzer said she thought was a napkin draped over bbq sauce, and then a churro, which turned out to be a piece of unseasoned plantain.
When the bill came at the end of the meal - 897 euros for three people - Meltzer said she was shocked.
She said: 'They give you a disclaimer at the beginning, saying that you will not like all of the dishes…and OK that’s fine…but for everything to be utterly disgusting doesn’t make any sense.
'I truly don’t understand how this restaurant is in business. It is the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life.'

This was the WORST meal of my life I truly cannot believe how bad this restaurant was, it is a two Michelin star restaurant so it just doesn’t make any sense. Someone literally had the cops called on them and almost got arrested because they did not want to pay for the restaurant, it was that bad. Mugaritz is critically acclaimed as a restaurant that is inventive and special, maybe 20 years ago? And I cannot believe they have held these michelin stars for this long. What is the worst restaurant in the world? It literally might be this restaurant. All of the food tasted so weird. The flavors were just bad, some of the produce was nice, but it seemed like this was almost a social experiment. I will get into it in the next video because this was absolutely crazy Worst restaurant in the world? Where should I eat in spain? Is san sebastian good for food? Where is the Basque region of spain? What is bilbao spain? Is mugaritz a good restaurant #mugaritz #traveler #spaintiktok #sansebastian #finedining #michelinstar

Prices for the tasting menu at Mugaritz start at 253 € without drinks.
The Michelin guide describes it as 'much more than a restaurant, offering food-enthusiasts a very different dining experience'.
It adds: 'Here, absolutely everything is questioned, hence the focus on both individual and general tastes to the extent that, in the words of the chef, “the experience here is as much playful as it is gastronomic”.
'Dishes do not follow a classic order and constantly aim to transcend borders, both in terms of flavor and the flow of the single tasting menu.'
