It wasn't meant to be for Team GB's Andy Murray and Dan Evan as they went crashing out of the 2024 Paris Olympics at the hands of Americans Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz.
The British duo suffered a 6-2 6-4 defeat to the American pair despite showing signs of resilience clawing back from a 4-1 deficit in the second set.
A win was always going to be a hefty ask against the Americans who have looked strong throughout the Games and it was just that as the pair knocked out Murray and Evans in the men's doubles quarter-finals at Roland Garros.
Thus drawing a curtain on Andy Murray's illustrious sporting career after two Olympic gold medals and three Grand Slam victories.
Murray made it clear that the Olympics would be his final tournament but many still found it difficult to come to terms with the reality and salt was rubbed further into their wounds when Murray himself made a subtle change in his 'X' bio going from 'I play tennis' to 'I played tennis'.
