Chicago Sky rookie star Angel Reese gave a 'dismissive' interview to a Windy City reporter, telling him 'I can't trust any of y'all' less than a week after she said rival Caitlin Clark had a 'special whistle'.

After more than a year of Reese displaying her bombastic personality as one of the main cogs in the skyrocket of interest in women's basketball, the first signs of those who disagree with her taking a toll may have manifested.

Reese's latest chapter occurred on Sunday, when the Fever defeated the Sky. During her team's loss, Reese committed a flagrant foul on Clark when she missed a block attempt and smacked her in the head.

That was independent of her 'special whistle' comment after the game.

The 'catastrophe' of an interview was conducted by the Chicago Sun-Times' Steve Greenberg, with Reese mostly giving short answers to a journalist who admitted he had not had many previous interactions with the Sky's rookie sensation.

Clark and Reese have had a rivalry dating back to their days at Iowa and LSU respectively

Reese is one of the biggest stars in the WNBA during her rookie season with the Chicago Sky

Reese has made her desires clear that she does not trust the media despite the attention

'I know how y’all like to twist my words, so I’m just keeping it short and sweet,’' Reese said. 'I can’t trust any of y’all. So I’m just letting you know — short and sweet.'

From the first-person account of the exchange, that was the longest answer given by Reese, separating by Greenberg assuring her no ill-will.

With the attention on the WNBA, a Sky media-relations official stopped the interview shortly after it was clear Reese was not in the talking mood.

Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon was later asked about Reese's approach.

'I think sometimes we fail to realize what the athlete might think,' Weatherspoon said. '"What is she thinking? How does she feel?" I think sometimes we just fail to realize that because it’s almost like every time she speaks, there’s something wrong with what she says. There’s something wrong with what she does.'

'That’s what it seems like. But what we do here as a team, that’s really all that matters,' Weatherspoon added of Reese. 'She’s fine. She’s going to be fine. I mean, she’s fine.'

There's correlation between Reese and the NBA's Draymond Green. Both are outspoken and have a unique aura on the court. Both also may be misunderstood by a large swath of basketball fans.

The difference for Reese is that she is still only a few months into her professional career with the world of expectations on her.
