Angel Reese has been branded 'arguably the most overrated athlete in all of sports' by Jason Whitlock after clashing with rival Caitlin Clark over the weekend.

Reese made headlines on Sunday with a hard foul on Clark during a matchup between the Sky and Fever, though the former Iowa star defended her opponent's intentions after the game.

Nonetheless, Whitlock lashed out against Reese on Tuesday and even claimed her purported lack of skill is the reason she 'hates' Clark.

'Angel Reese is arguably the most overrated athlete in all of sports,' Whitlock said on his show 'Fearless.'

'She is as unskilled as any player in the WNBA. She is as unskilled as any player in the WNBA. She is awkward... look at the way she actually runs. Her lower body seems to be disconnected from her upper body. She's incredibly unathletic. She has no skill, no postgame. Candace Parker, I'm sure, watches her and laughs.'

Reese was whistled for a flagrant foul on Clark during Sunday's matinee in Indiana

He continued, 'This woman is a rebounder and that's it, and that's why she hates Caitlin Clark so much.'

Reese is shooting 37.1 percent from the field this season while averaging 12.1 points and 10.2 rebounds, while Clark is scoring 16.1 per contest on just 38.3 percent from the field.

The two have been rivals since college, when Clark starred for Iowa and Reese for LSU, with the center taunting Clark towards the end of the 2023 national championship game.

And there was another chapter in their rivalry last weekend when Reese attempted to block Clark's shot and hit her on the side of her head.

Clark, however, downplayed the contact afterwards, saying, 'It's just part of basketball.

'It is what it is. She's trying to make a play on the ball and get the block. Yeah, it happens.'

WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes also suggested the fury over Clark's on-court treatment is unjustified.

'It's the clip they wanna post because they're gonna get all these likes and reposts... but that's a basketball play,' Swoopes said about Reese's foul on Clark during an appearance on Gil's Arena.

Reese was charged with a flagrant 1 after her failed block attempt hit Clark in the face

'She hit her in the head so of course, it should be upgraded to a flagrant 1. Ref's looked at it, they upgraded it.

'[But] can we keep playing basketball? My thing is, every time Caitlin gets fouled, we can't make it seem like she was assaulted. Fouling is a part of basketball.'

Reese was issued a flagrant 1 for the foul while Clark appeared shaken up before getting on her feet with the help of her teammates.

Earlier this season, Reese also cheered her teammate Chennedy Carter on from the sideline after she bodychecked Clark to the ground.

After the Fever's 91-83 win over the Sky on Sunday, Clark's squad is 2-0 vs. Reese's team this season.
