A postie who blew up at an elderly driver and made her cry after she almost crashed into him at a roundabout has been criticised by witnesses.

The postman was seen giving the elderly woman a piece of his mind on the side of the road following the close call on the Gold Coast this week.

'You're supposed to give way at the roundabout. You're supposed to stop at the roundabout,' the agitated postie tells the woman.

'Why were you not seeing me?'

However, his angry rant was interrupted after another female driver spotted the altercation and began to film his angry tirade.

'She's an older lady,' the woman filming says as she approaches the pair.

'She's scared. Please stop.'

The elderly driver is seen fighting back tears as she tells the postie: 'I didn't see you'.

The other woman admonishes the postman for making the older woman cry and tells him to 'stop harassing her'.

She threatened to call the police if the postie didn't move his electric delivery vehicle to allow the elderly woman to drive away.

'Leave her alone and let her go,' she tells him.

The man told them he 'wasn't harassing her' and that he had a family at home.

'Can you just slow down next time please?' he asked the elderly woman.

'I'm so sorry, I didn't see you,' the visibly distressed driver replied.

The postie continues to tell the driver to 'watch where your going' as the woman filming orders him to back off and return to his vehicle.

'I didn't even touch him, but I didn't see him either,' the older woman tells her.

'And I can't believe how he's reacted.'

An Australia Post spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: 'Australia Post is committed to ensuring a safe workplace for its team members.

'A full investigation of the incident will be conducted, including reviewing any video captured before and after the incident.

'Australia Post's Electric Delivery Vehicles (eDVs) are equipped with on-board telematics which capture video footage and data designed to help keep our people safe on the roads.'
