Anti-Trump crossdressing man smashes car into county jail before hurling snakes and shouting 'the devil told me to kill everyone'

3 months ago 13

A homeless man wearing women's clothes intentionally rammed his car into the side of a county jail in Florida Monday night, before reportedly embarking on a rant about Donald Trump.

Joseph Leedy, 40, stands accused of four counts of aggravated assault on an officer and one count of criminal mischief resulting in damage of more than $1,000 as a result - as a series of photos show the damage he caused.

Surveillance footage show the suspect driving from the Martin County Jail parking lot, up the walkway, and through it glass lobby doors. He was stopped by a set of steel security doors further inside.

No one was in the lobby in the crash, and Leedy was taken into custody - after exiting the car wearing a blouse and no pants to pour motor oil on the jail floor, saying he wanted to set it ablaze. He also slammed the ex-president, WPTV reported.

Expressing a desire to 'kill everyone', he also threw rubber snakes on the facility's floor, and fought with deputies and responding fire rescue personnel, officers said. The crash, which cops said will prove costly, is currently under investigation.

'Forty-year old Joseph Leedy, the driver of the vehicle that crashed through the doors of the Martin County Jail lobby... was charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and Criminal Mischief of over $1000,' cops said.

'After crashing through the doors, Leedy got out of the vehicle wearing a ladies blouse and no pants, and poured motor oil on the lobby floor saying he wanted to set it on fire.

'He continued making homicidal statements about police officers and expressed his desire to 'kill everyone' while he threw rubber snakes on the floor and fought with deputies and fire rescue personnel.

'Although he made it into the lobby area causing thousands of dollars in damage, he was not able to breech the steel doors,' the statement continued.

'Fortunately no one was standing in the lobby at the time of the crash.'

Officers in Martin County went on to describe how Leedy was restrained, and then taken to a hospital where he continued to be uncooperative.

He was taken back to the same jail, where he was booked and charged, the county sheriff's office said.

Officers also included photos of the snakes the suspect hurled, him battered in a hospital gown, and the car crashed into the jail's façade.

He made it as far as the lobby area, where he was stopped by another set of doors - these made of steel

Chief Deputy John Budensiek added that Leedy also talked about his hatred for the former President Donald Trump. He was subdued by being tased, other officers added

Cops added in their matter-of-fact rundown of what happened: 'The driver is in custody. #WrongEntrance.'

They added that Leedy originally hails from Illinois, but currently lives in Key Largo - a three hours' drive away.

The sheriff's office identified the defendant as a 'homeless man' who 'said he came here to kill police'.

The charges currently leveled against the cross-dresser indicate officers did not take the threat so seriously, due to the absence of any relating to attempted murder.

In a police report, officer wrote how they told Leedy to step away from the vehicle, to which he responded 'with a blank stare.'

The crash, which cops said will prove costly, is currently under investigation.

He 'then grabbed a black container that appeared to be oil from the trunk of his vehicle,' cops wrote - adding that smoke was emitting from the front of his vehicle.

The report also revealed that Leedy was subdued after being tased, falling away from the vehicle into the bushes outside of the jail.

'Mr. Leedy uttered the 'devil made me do it, why didn't you shoot me, and f--- me in the ass, I came here to kill the police,' officer Brycen Vanatwerp wrote.

Chief Deputy John Budensiek added that Leedy also talked about his hatred for the former President Donald Trump.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office said there is no video footage of the incident available at this time.

No injuries were reported.

The sheriff's office confirmed a case against the defendant had been filed. A court date has yet to be set.
