The Australian version of the TV show 'Alone' has been hammered in a scathing review by a US right-wing political activist.
In a blistering tweet, Matt Walsh who is also an author, podcaster and columnist, describes Alone Australia as 'unintentionally the funniest thing on TV right now'.
Alone Australia is an Australian survival competition series based on the hit US version.
The show premiered on SBS in March 2023.
The SBS website promotes the show, 'Ten Australians are dropped off alone in separate areas of remote wilderness where they must deal with the forces of nature, hunger, and loneliness.'

Mr Walsh begins his tweet by writing that he and his wife enjoy watching the US version of Alone which 'features gritty, skilled survivalists.'
'We just found out there’s an Australian version and started watching. Unintentionally the funniest thing on TV right now. It’s basically “Alone: DEI Edition.”
'DEI' is the acronym for 'diversity, equity, and inclusion'.
Mr Walsh writes Alone Australia ticks all the diversity boxes by including two lesbians and 'two (who) claim to be indigenous.'
'Ten contestants. Two are lesbians. Two claim to be indigenous. One of the lesbians dropped out after one night.
'One of the indigenous guys made a big show about being in touch with nature etc and then cried and dropped out after one night.'
He writes how a 'Gen Z environmentalist guy' requested a medical evacuation after testing positive for COVID-19.
'Another indigenous guy tried to eat a toxic millipede.'
Mr Walsh concludes his review by writing: 'The American version features gritty, skilled survivalists.
'The Australian version was more worried about checking diversity boxes so the contestants are totally clueless, incompetent, and just crying through the whole thing.
'Highly recommend. Very funny stuff. And a great cautionary tale. Highly recommend.'
'They apparently sent the contestants out into the wilderness with COVID tests.
'And they start each episode with a land acknowledgment. Plus they have a bunch of woke environmental regulations that prohibit them from hunting pretty much any game. Like I said, it’s hilarious.'

The majority of replies to Mr Walsh's tweet agreed with his take on Alone Australia.
'Remember when Australians were thought of as the hardy, masculine, self sufficient, toughest guys on the planet? Yeah, wtf happened?,' one said.
A second added: 'Aussies used to be made of sterner stuff.'
'The Australian TV networks have drunk every drop of the DEI Kool Aid', another said.
A third agreed: 'That's the one season I could not finish. Such a joke.'
A fourth said: 'As an avid Alone watcher and lover of the show, you can’t imagine how utterly embarrassing it was watching it as an Australian.'
'Numerous applicants are obvious diversity hire and not even remotely close to being capable survivalists - borne out by two applicants tapping out on the second day, without trying to source food or shelter,' they said.
