Arne Slot is spotted in Liverpool for the first time since club confirmed head coach as Jurgen Klopp's replacement - as the German manager begins his new life in Spain

Arne Slot has arrived in Liverpool ahead of starting his new role as head coach at Anfield.

The Dutch manager's negotiations with the club had been ongoing since April in the wake of the previous frontrunner to replace outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp - Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso - confirming that he would be honouring his contract and staying at his club for another season.

The two parties came to a verbal agreement four weeks ago, with Slot confirming the news himself in a press conference for his former club Feyenoord.

Liverpool themselves finally rubber-stamped the news with a formal announcement on Monday, one day after Klopp's emotional final game on Merseyside.

Ahead of his first day in the position on June 1, Slot has wasted no time jetting to England from Holland, and settling into his new neighbourhood.

The 45-year-old was spotted at the upmarket Moor Hall Restaurant in Aughton, ten miles from Liverpool, and a stone's throw from his new residence - Klopp's £4million former home in Formby

Klopp had bought the home from another ex-Reds manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Moor Hall were pleased to welcome the incoming head coach, posting a picture of head chef Mark Birchall alongside Slot with the caption: 'It was great to welcome Arne Slot to Moor Hall restaurant yesterday'.

The two-Michelin-star restaurant was voted 'the best restaurant in England' at the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards 2023 for the second consecutive year, and features a set 'Provenance menu', priced at £235 per person.

The produce-driven dishes available include smoked eel with potato, fermented garlic, and flowers, and grilled Cornish turbot with salsify, pear, and mussel and roe sauce.

While Slot will not get to meet his players until pre-season training begins in July, the new manager has had his entry into the hot seat at Anfield considerably smoothed by the vocal backing of his predecessor.

The former Reds manager also shared a video update with his followers via his new account

'Since today I am once of you, and I keep believing in you. I stay a believer, one hundred percent,' Klopp began, before launching into a chant of the new manager's name, set to the tune of a song once used for his own.

With a big grin on his face, Klopp sang: 'Arne Slot! La, la, la la! Arne Slot! La, la, la, la!'

He then said: 'When the next season starts you are not waiting to see what's going on, no you go full throttle into it. You welcome the new manager like you welcome me. You go all in from the first day.

'And when it's hard, you keep believing. When it's difficult, you keep believing and you push the team, for a goal or whatever. I'm one of you now, I love you to bits.'

Over 1,250 miles south, Klopp was starting his own new life this week, having touched down in Majorca.

The decorated manager will be staying at the high-end five-star Kimpton Aysla Hotel with his wife of 20 years, Ulla, while construction work finishes on their new £3.4million villa in the Balearic Islands - their planned base for his new retirement life.

Klopp took to his newly launched Instagram account to update fans on his holiday, which has included playing padel.

'What I’ve been up to? Working on my game!' Klopp captioned a clip, as well as sharing a video of himself discussing his renewed commitment to the racquet sport.

‘Now, what I am doing is I try, no, I follow my other big passion, I try to improve my padel game.

‘I started a few days ago, today is my third session and I started on an extremely low level, didn’t play for a while and felt it immediately.

‘Step by step I will get there.’
