Thuggish Arsenal fans took turns punching a supposed Bayern Munich infiltrant during their 2-2 Champions League draw on Tuesday night.

A handful of supporters landed blows on the man while most in the vicinity paid little attention - before some started chanting 'Arsenal, Arsenal'.

Bayern fans had been banned from attending the match after throwing fireworks on to the pitch at Lazio in the last 16.

Stewards promptly dealt with the situation - which was only instigated by a few rowdy individuals - and ushered the man away.

Arsenal drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich as goals from Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard weren't enough to better Serge Gnabry and Harry Kane's efforts.

Fans complained about Bayern Munich fans getting into the East Stand at the Emirates

The club insisted that they would ban any season-ticket holder or member found to be selling tickets to away supporters.

Bayern had been allocated 180 tickets for a delegation of friends and family, with 20 senior club officials in the directors' box.

However, tweets from supporters complained that Die Roten's followers had found their way into the East Stand.

'Really upset being next to a load of Bayern fans in the East Stand. Unsure what kind of an Arsenal fan sells his ticket to a Bayern fan, it made the atmosphere angry and distracted the fans from the task at hand,' wrote one supporter.

Another wrote: 'Was disappointed (yet unsurprised) to see so many Bayern fans in the Upper East Stand. An area of the ground which always seems to be invaded with touts. Arsenal need to do more about this, an ongoing issue.'

Another tweet, seemingly from an Arsenal fan, issued a call for Bayern supporters to come forward and purchase a ticket from them.

Multiple supporters online have claimed that Bayern fans even managed to raise a banner in the 80th minute.

Arsenal have left themselves with work to do after struggling to capitalise on their chances.

Coming into this, Arsenal were the favourites against their old enemies due to their domineering form and Bayern's domestic woes. Thomas Tuchel's men had lost their last two league games, the latter 3-2 to lowly Heidenheim after being 2-0 up.

However, despite Saka's early goal, Mikel Arteta's men could not put the game to bed.

Ben White missed a gilt-edged chance and Arsenal were duly punished, with former Gunners star Gnabry equalising on the counter and Kane converting a penalty.

The hosts had the better of the possession and more chances, and Trossard restored parity after 76 minutes, but they travel to Germany next week with the tie hanging in the balance.
