Aussie glamour girl Ebanie Bridges BEATEN via upset unanimous decision in world title fight: 'This has been a disaster for her'

Japanese veteran boxer Miyo Yoshida dethroned Aussie boxing superstar Ebanie Bridges in San Francisco with a dominant unanimous decision victory on Sunday afternoon.

Yoshida, who stepped in on late notice to take the fight with Bridges, claimed the IBF bantamweight strap with a stunning performance on the undercard of the title fight between Devin Haney and Regis Prograis at the Chase Center.

All three judges had the heavy underdog well ahead on the cards (99-91 x2, 97-93), to give the former two-time WBO super flyweight champ the win.

Bridges struggled to get going during the bout, with the Japanese fighter's right hand finding the mark throughout the fight.

Punch statistics afterwards showed that Yoshida landed 122 power shots to the Blonde Bombers' 66. 

Commentators were amazed by the one-sided performance from Yoshida, with one remarking: 

'This was supposed to be an exhibition fight for Ebanie Bridges in the United States,' he said.

'This has been a disaster for her.'

There was some controversy in the bout, with Yoshida landing a late shot following the bell in the fifth round. It seemed to do little to change the outcome, however.

The shock defeat now ends the former Sydney maths teacher's 21-month reign at the top of the IBF bantamweight division. 

Bridges was was originally slated to fight compatriot Avril Mathie in what had been dubbed the 'Battle of the Boobs' before Mathie was forced to drop out of the contest due to an injury.

Bridges told Daily Mail Australia that it was very difficult to find somebody to step up at short notice.

'Avril pulled out a couple of weeks ago, and this is about the fourth opponent we've gone through,' Bridges said last week.

'We've had opponents say yes and then get the contract and go missing. It doesn't change a lot. I'm still going to go in there and fight my fight.

 Bridges successfully defended her title with a stoppage win over Shannon O'Connell in December and has built a huge following online.

The Aussie is immensely popular with fight fans thanks to her all-or-nothing style in the ring, risky sense of humour, intelligence and habit of wearing eye-catching outfits to her weigh-ins.
