Awful footage has emerged of a group of attackers bashing a single mother in a troubled Outback town.

In the video, which was reportedly shot the week before last in the remote Nauiyu community on the Northern Territory's Daly River, 250km south of Darwin, five or six women and teenagers kick down a door to get to their victim.

When the flimsy door came off its hinges, the Indigenous woman cowering inside received a series of brutal blows to the head from the first attacker before being set upon by a swarm of assailants.

The woman's child is believed to have been present during the attack.

The mother is heard screaming as her attackers unleashed punches and kicks, as well as pulling her hair as she desperately tried to defend herself.

Darren Clark is an administrator for the Action for Alice group, which highlights issues in Alice Springs and the Northern Territory.

He said sadly this type of mayhem has become a normal part of life in the outer reaches of the Top End.

'This violence happens far too often on remote communities,' he told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday.

'If this was in a regional centre or a major city there would be an national outcry but all we get on this violence is absolute crickets.'

Locals said the brutal beating was in retaliation for a comment the woman made about a deceased male, according to The Australian.

Last Tuesday, Nauiyu was attacked by up to 25 people armed with shotguns, axes and crossbows. Four people were injured, including one boy also shot through the abdomen with an arrow.

A video taken of another attack showed a stolen vehicle careening at high speed through a scattering crowd before it smashed into a house, which burst into flames

Several houses and cars were also set ablaze.

An eight-month-old baby was reportedly inside the dwelling at the time, although the infant had been rescued by the time police arrived.

Another video showed panicked people running through the streets of the small settlement as someone shouted 'gun, gun, gun' and the sound of shots was heard.

Alice Spring was subject to a curfew from March 27 after a rampaging mob took to the streeys and besieged a hote.

The curfew was lifted on April 16 with the Territory government created a new squad of 18 police officers to be stationed in Alice Springs to respond to any signs of public disorder.
