Backlash as Disneyland is set to permanently close 'Beast's Library' to make way for a new attraction - as weary guests are left with fewer offerings during the park's peak festive season when tickets cost $194

A secret attraction at Disneyland is closing down after over 20 years at the California park and it's being replaced by an 'educational program'.

The Beast's Library - an attraction that opened up at Disneyland's California location in 2001 - is being shut down.

The Beauty and the Beast themed section of the park is hidden inside the Sorcerer's Workshop in Hollywood Land at Disney's California Adventure Park.

In the attraction guests were able to explore the library and watch a portrait of the Prince - which hung in the center of the room - as the handsome man transformed into the hideous beast.

Visitors were also invited to interact with an 'enchanted book' in the library to discover which Disney character their personality resembles the most.

The attraction - which is set to close permanently on December 10 - will be replaced by 'Disney's Imagination Campus'.

The new space will feature an educational program that teaches 'students' how to use their imagination when confronted with a variety of challenges.

'Our plan is for Imagination Campus to use the Beast’s Library space moving forward and the final day for guests to experience Beast’s Library will be Dec. 10,' a Disneyland official told KTLA.

Visitors are devastated by another closure at the amusement park - with one user on X calling the decision 'disgusting' and another saying: 'Such a bad decision. Disappointed.'

Theme Park Wizard on X said 'Oh no! The imagination campus will be moving from blue sky cellar into the very awesome and usable space at animation academy inside the beasts library. Now that is tragic.'

A Reddit user said: 'Aww that sucks. I love beasts library.'

Another said that they stilled missed previously shut-down rides: 'Boo!! I still miss the zoetrope and Ursula.. Beast’s library was such a hidden gem, really disappointed to lose more interactivity.'

One account said: 'This is so gross, and I'm usually the person that can look past weird Disney decisions like this.'

The upcoming closure comes just months after Disneyland hike their ticket prices up even more.

Walt Disney bumped up the price of some of its tickets by up to 10 percent as it prepares to invest $60 billion into its theme parks.

Annual passes rose between $40 and $50, with its premium Incredi-Pass now costing $1,449, up from $1,399.

A spokesman for the company said in a statement: 'We are constantly adding new, innovative attractions and entertainment to our parks and, with our broad array of pricing options, the value of a theme park visit is reflected in the unique experiences that only Disney can offer.'

The permit offers holders admission to one or more Walt Disney World Resort theme parks through the year.

In October - Walt Disney bumped up the price of some of its tickets by up to 10 percent as it prepares to invest $60 billion into its theme parks

A one-day ticket to a single Disneyland park (not the park-hopper ticket that allows access to both Disney and California Adventure) changes price based on the time of year but starts at $104.

Single day tickets in November and December range from $134 for early week entry to $194 for weekend tickets.

These extortionate prices pop up around the festive season - when the 'Happiest Place on Earth' turns into a winter wonderland.

A 'park hopper' ticket adds an extra $65 to the price per ticket.

In October - Disneyland made their Magic Key passes and the Disney Genie+ service and parking more expensive.

A Magic Key pass is an annual ticket for the park, but the passes are organized into different tiers which offer different perks and restrictions.

There are four tiers to the Magic Key program - with bottom tiers having more black-out days and less value perks at a more affordable entry price.

Higher-tier keys add things like parking and Photopass and less black-out dates at a much higher price.

When Disneyland first opened in 1955 - an adult ticket was $1. In 2000 - the same ticket shot up to $33.

Just under 10 years ago - a '1-day, 1-park' ticket was $92 and in 2020 a single-day 'value' pass, available for the very few off-peak days, was $97.

In April - Disneyland announced that the iconic Splash Mountain ride would shut down permanently after it was branded racist.

The now shut-down ride was based on 1946 movie Song of the South, which is set on a Georgia plantation and which Disney has refused to release on video or DVD, with CEO Bob Iger himself branding it 'offensive.'

Splash Mountain was based on animated segments from the film and also includes the movie's famed song, 'Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah.'

But the heavily re-imagined ride should cause no such controversy, as it will be based on Disney's 2009 movie The Princess and the Frog, which features the studio's first black princess, Tiana.

It isn't just Disneyland California that are bumping their prices up.

A dad revealed the eyewatering cost of visiting Disneyland as he slammed the theme park as a 'money grabbing machine.'

Mario Zelaya is a Canadian dad-of-two who took a trip to Paris with his wife and two boys.

However, the father ended up having a dreadful time due to the 'huge bill' he and his family racked up.

Mario revealed that he spent $1,200 just on tickets for his family as he advised people to avoid Disneyland.
