An adult and child are fighting for life after a three car crash near a Sydney airport.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Milperra Rd and Murray Jones Drive near Bankstown Aerodrome in Sydney's west about 7.45pm on Sunday night.

NSW Ambulance confirmed a man in his 50s and a primary school aged child were rushed to Westmead hospital in critical conditions.

Another man was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a non-critical condition.

Tradies were seen inspecting traffic lights at the intersection shortly after the incident while police and firefighters remained at the scene.

A black sedan involved in the crash had devastating damage to its left rear passenger door

A white ute was seen nearby with damage to its front bonnet and bumper

Pictures from the scene show the rear left passenger door of the sedan completely smashed in and a ute showing damage to it's bonnet and bumper.

One man surrounded by paramedics was seen being put into the back of an ambulance with a brace secured around his neck.

Police were also at the scene of the horrific crash and spotted inspecting the demolished sedan which had been forced over the curb and onto a nature strip.

Both cars came to rest just outside of a business complex that includes a go-kart track and a badminton centre.

Police blocked traffic from entering Murray Jones Drive and diverted eastbound traffic along Milperra Road.

More to follow.
