Former Manchester United star Bastian Schweinsteiger has risked landing himself in hot water with his wife, ex-tennis star Ana Ivanovic, after making a controversial comment about Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, live on air.
Schweinsteiger, 39, was working as a pundit on German TV channel ARD on Tuesday night for Portugal's clash against Czechia, and with Ronaldo in action, they took a look at his eldest son, Ronaldo Jr, celebrating his 14th birthday earlier this week.
ARD showed a clip of Rodriguez in a green crop top and tight blue sweatpants giving Ronaldo Jr, who wore the new Germany away shirt, a hug with her back to the camera as she handed over his presents.
As he watched the video, Schweinsteiger told presenter Esther Sedlaczek: 'There’s something going on with them.'
Sedlaczek replied: 'What does that tell us now?', before Schweinsteiger quickly shot back: 'Where are you looking?'

Ronaldo and Rodriguez have dated since 2016 and now live together in Saudi Arabia

Sedlaczek quickly realised that Schweinsteiger had his eyes on something other than the presents being given out, and sighed: 'Oh, Basti... On the jersey. On the jersey of the German national team'.
Schweinsteiger seemingly getting distracted by Rodriguez's appearance is unlikely to go down well with his wife, who was once the best female tennis player on the planet.
Serbia's Ivanovic held the world No1 ranking for 12 weeks in 2008 after winning the French Open that year - her only grand slam title.
She also made the Australian Open final in 2008 before losing to Maria Sharapova.
Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger began their relationship in 2014, and married two years later, before she retired from tennis at the end of 2016 following a prolonged dip in form.
Ronaldo led Portugal to an important win on Tuesday as they came from behind to beat Czechia
The couple have been married for eight years and have three children together. They welcomed sons Leon and Luca in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and Ivanovic gave birth to their third child in May 2023, but the name of the third son remains unknown.
Away from the dram in the German TV studio, Ronaldo played a full 90 minutes for his country as they came from behind to win their opening game of Euro 2024.
Lukas Provod gave Czechia a surprise lead, but Portugal drew level through a Robin Hranac own goal, and substitute Francisco Conceicao completed the comeback with a 92nd-minute winner.
