A Boston man is devastated after his pride and joy, a beautiful black 1990s Buick Grand National, was stolen and used in a demolition derby as the thief careered through the streets of Boston, smashing into between 15 and 20 parked cars.

The car's owner, Dennis Harrington, had only just got the car out of the shop after having had some bodywork done on it and putting it through its paces on a racetrack.

Harrington was at work when a co-worker told him he had seen a car 'just like his'.

'Somebody came up to me to say, "Oh a car like yours has just driven by." I said, "That is my car!" There’s no other car like this in America. This thing is one of a kind,' Harrington told Boston 25

The muscle car was stolen from downtown Boston and driven six miles south to the suburb of Dorchester where the thief tore a path of destruction as it collided with the parked vehicles at 2:30pm on Monday afternoon.

The damage ranged from just a few scratches to smashed headlights and broken bumpers.

The driver smashed into vehicles parked along Dicks, Center, and Parkman Streets. Neighbors say they heard the loud series of crashes.

'There was a car that crashed into a couple of other cars in the neighborhood and then he peeled back and went up the side street and hit a couple of other cars,' local resident Damal Ray say.
