A star-studded crew of the political and entertainment elite are set to headline a major fundraiser for Joe Biden in Hollywood next month, as even his own advisors acknowledge Donald Trump is closing the gap.

George Clooney and Julia Roberts - one of Hollywood's most famous onscreen pairs - are set to put in some heavy duty work for the campaign at a Los Angeles event in June.

Not only will the Oceans Eleven and Ticket to Paradise stars attend but they will also take part in a contest that takes over the campaign's social media platforms.

Both Oscar winners will also put their names on text messages and emails on behalf of their campaign.

More Hollywood A-listers are scheduled to take part, as is former President Barack Obama

The Biden campaign has run laps around Trump in getting cash from big-money donors but a campaign staffer admitted that they'll likely need even more money for November's rematch.

'We're not under any illusion that he's not going to narrow the gap,' a Biden campaign adviser told NBC News

'But what he can't get back is the time we've had with all this money to do what we've done.'

At another date earlier this summer, Biden will again unite with former President Bill Clinton for an east coast fundraiser, which ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is also slated to attend.

Biden held events with Clinton, Obama and actor Michael Douglas in late March and April, raising over $26 million, a record for the party for a single event.

It led Biden's campaign to a $43.8 million fundraising month, triple what Trump raised in that period, according to FEC filings.

Trump's campaign has claimed to top it with a $50.5 million event in Palm Beach in April which has yet to be reflected in campaign filings

The New York Biden event came on the same day Trump traveled to Long Island to pay meet with grieving family members at a wake for slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller, who was killed in the line of duty.

He was shot and killed in Queens during a routine traffic stop on Monday and horrific surveillance footage captured the moment.

Biden flubbed the date of the January 6 riots while attacking Trump during fundraiser hosted by Douglas in Westchester, New York in late April.

His visit closed roads and schools around the Village of Irvington, as anti-Israel protesters took to the streets.

The fundraiser was held at the home of Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was not in attendance due to filming, according to the White House pool report.

Clooney has long been an ally to the president, with Biden saying he would've have supported him had he run against Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The A-lister has long been a consistent supporter of liberal Democrats, once holding a fundraiser at his home for Obama that added $15 million to the president's re-election coffers.

The fundraiser comes as Biden continues to struggle against Trump in the polls despite his massive cash advantage.

According to the latest FiveThirtyEight average, Trump leads Biden by a point.
