Late night talk host Jimmy Kimmel ventured a joke about President Joe Biden’s banished dog Commander during their banter during a big bucks LA fundraiser Saturday.
Kimmel, who conducted an on-stage interview with the president and former President Barack Obama, referenced how Biden was ‘very nice’ to send a letter after his son Billy had open-heart surgery.
He made reference to ‘a card and a little stuffed Commander dog to Billy, which he loves very much, and he thinks is very special. Unfortunately, little Commander bit Billy’s toe off,’ Kimmel joked.
‘I’m sorry about that,’ Biden responded, days after the release of newly released Secret Service records reveal details of how Commander bit an agent while Biden was walking him on White House grounds.

‘Now he needs more healthcare,’ Kimmel followed up, following former President Barack Obama to joke, ‘Fortunately, he’s covered.’
It was one of several times Kimmel sneaked in a few digs at his subject’s expense, even while lending his star power to the fundraising effort, which shattered Democratic records and hauled in $30 million.
Rattling through Biden’s accomplishments, he threw in a curve ball. ‘And you pardoned six turkeys, one of whom we know for sure was framed. Not bad for Sleepy Joy.’ That prompted a ‘Hey!’ from Obama.
Kimmel drew attention during the Trump administration when he tearfully disclosed is son's heart condition days after the child's birth. 'No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child's life,' Kimmel said on air. 'It just shouldn't happen. Not here.'
Kimmel saved his more biting humor for former President Donald Trump, at one point calling him ‘Nostra-dumba**.’
‘Is this country suffering from what they call “Trump amnesia”? I mean, why do so many Americans seem to remember the Trump administration the same way we do a colonoscopy? Like, we know what happened (inaudible),’ he said, according to a White House transcript released early Monday.
Biden didn’t dispute the colonoscopy comparison, but quickly brought up Trump’s comments about injecting bleach early in the coronavirus pandemic.
‘That worked for me, by the way,’ Kimmel riffed.
That brought a dig from Biden. ‘By the way, it worked for him. It colored his hair,’ he joked, earning laughs.
Former President Barack Obama joked with Kimmel about toilet paper shortages during the pandemic
The jokes came during the meat of an event that drew notice after Biden stood motionless for several seconds while receiving applause, before Obama tugged on his arm and guided him off stage.
Kimmel also poked fun at himself, as when he said ‘all you have to really remember about the Trump years is that we ran out of toilet paper.’
‘Like, he promised to make America great again. And the next thing you know, we are wiping ourselves with envelopes.’ Obama asked Kimmel if that’s how he ‘handled it.’
‘It was rough. Manilla, too,’ he quipped.
