Bill Belichick was arrogant in his treatment of Tom Brady, Jason Whitlock claims, though the social commentator believes the legendary coach will end his career 'on fire' if he's given another shot.
Belichick and the Patriots mutually parted ways in January after 24 seasons together, and the six-time Super Bowl champion was then passed over for a bevvy of vacant head coaching jobs.
Now, Whitlock has claimed that Belichick needed to go through a 'humbling process' after his broken relationship with Brady was showcased in 'The Dynasty,' an Apple TV documentary focused on the Patriots' recent success.
'I think Bill Belichick needs his current situation in order to go back to the great coach that he was,' Whitlock wrote on X. 'I think there was an arrogance and now he is experiencing humility.
He added on his 'Fearless' podcast, 'Humility comes for everybody at some point.

'I still think there's greatness within Bill Belichick, but like every other man and human being on the planet, they need to go through a humbling process.'
Whitlock's comments came after a guest on 'Fearless' mentioned Belichick's harsh review of Brady's 505-yard performance in the team's Super Bowl loss to the Eagles in 2018 - a moment which was captured in 'The Dynasty.'
'I mean, offensively, they… scored more points than we did,' Belichick said at the time. 'So give their staff and players credit.'
Belichick was known for building a strict and demanding 'Patriot Way' culture where Brady was treated no differently than others even as the team's star.
And Brady detailed his decision to leave New England for Tampa Bay in 'The Dynasty.'
'Me and coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together,' Brady said, via The Athletic. 'But I wasn't going to sign another contract [in New England] even if I wanted to play until [I was] 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn't going to sign up for more of it.'

Nonetheless, Brady had kind words for Belichick when the coach departed New England this winter, saying he was 'incredibly grateful to have played for the best coach in the history of the NFL.'
'I could never have been the player I was without you Coach Belichick,' he said on Instagram. 'I am forever grateful. And I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose next.'
Whitlock, meanwhile, still believes Belichick can end his career as a 'man on fire' if he's given another chance to be a head coach - particularly with Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys.
'He's going to have success,' Whitlock predicted of Belichick if he goes to Dallas. 'I would love the opportunity to hire him next season.'
According to a recent ESPN report, Patriots owner Robert Kraft talked Falcons owner Arthur Blank out of hiring Belichick despite the Falcons owner considering him to be a 'living legend.'
