Legendary Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez is adding former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg as a business partner.

Rodriguez and billionaire Marc Lore have agreed to add Bloomberg in their ongoing bid to buy the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, an A-Rod spokesman has confirmed to DailyMail.com. The Athletic was the first to report the move.

Bloomberg is ranked by Forbes as the 12th richest person in the world at $106 billion, which could come in handy as the Timberwolves’ current owner, Glen Taylor, tries to retain majority control of the franchise.

Lore and Rodriguez already own 40 percent of the team after agreeing to purchase the entire club for $1.5 billion in 2021.

However, Taylor recently exercised his right to pull out of the last part of the structured deal because the prospective buyers failed to make the deadline for the final $600 payment.

In response, Lore and Rodriguez claimed they were waiting for NBA approval on a 90-day extension, while accusing Taylor of having seller's remorse after unloading the team and its WNBA sister club for below market value.

Since then, NBA team valuations have skyrocketed, making the potential for a renegotiated Timberwolves sale considerably more lucrative.

Rodriguez has called Taylor's misgivings 'f***ing childish' during an interview with Sportico, while Lore has described the sale as a 'matter of time' and 'how much pain Glen wants to put the fans, the players, the town and community through.'

'It's his choice,' Lore continued. 'It didn't have to be this way.'

Further exacerbating matters is a recent report by ESPN that Taylor began having misgivings about Lore and Rodriguez’s ownership plans after learning that the pair planned to cut payroll dramatically.

The Timberwolves recently fell to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals.
