Troubled former NRL star Blake Ferguson has broken his silence after being released by Newcastle bush footy club Kurri Kurri due to multiple allegations of disgraceful off-field behaviour.

Ferguson, 34, was told he was no longer wanted at the Bulldogs, with his former teammates reportedly furious at his alleged conduct.

Newcastle rugby league general manager Adam Devcich - a former NRL referee - issued a statement about Ferguson, who was cut loose after just one game.

'Blake was signed by Kurri Kurri but the club has released him from his obligations,' said Devcich.

The controversial veteran said that he wants to stay out of the media

'His contract has been terminated by mutual agreement. That is all that we or the club will say. Neither party will make any further comment.'

The veteran footy star spoke to media over the weekend, requesting to stay out of the media spotlight.

'I have no comment to make,' he told News Corp.

'I don't play NRL anymore and I don't want to be in the media.'

In a shock development, it has been reported that Ferguson has already joined another bush footy club, with Wellington signing the former Test star.

It would seem that there's been no proper investigation into his alleged inappropriate behaviour at Kurri Kurri.

Ferguson has been embroiled in multiple incidents of misbehaviour across his colourful footy career.

In 2013 when on the books of the Raiders, Ferguson infamously skipped a training session to instead drink Vodka Cruisers with teammate Josh Dugan on the roof of his house.

That same year he was convicted of indecently assaulting a woman at 2230, a popular nightclub in Cronulla, after celebrating his maiden NSW State of Origin selection.

Ferguson said he had mistaken her for 'another blonde woman' he had met earlier that night.

'I always liked blonde girls because I lived in Cronulla for a long time,' he said in court.

Ferguson moved on to the Roosters in 2015 after serving time away from the game due to the indecent assault conviction, where he was brought back into the NSW Origin fold in 2017 alongside Dugan.

The pair drove several hours to the Lennox Head Hotel just days before the third game of the series, with some present suggesting they had embarked on an eight-hour drinking session.

Those reports were denied by members of the NSW set-up but the duo were left out of the team the next year with then coach Brad Fittler wanting to change its 'selfish culture'.

Later that year he checked in to a rehabilitation centre to overcome his gambling addiction.

Ferguson moved to the Parramatta Eels in 2019 where he returned to the NSW team, setting up the winning try in the series decider.

He then announced he was moving to Japan to play rugby union.

On December 30 in 2021, he was taken by officers from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police to the Azabu police station about 6.30am.

Police detained Ferguson for allegedly beating up another man in a restaurant in Roppongi in Minato City, a popular nightclub district in Tokyo.

Officers searched the footy star's belongings at the police station and allegedly found cocaine.

Ferguson spent the next 29 days in a four-metre by three-metre cell and was only allowed out for 10 minutes each day 'for a bit of a stretch'.

His lucrative rugby contract - said to be worth $1.5million - was torn up by the NEC Green Rockets, with Ferguson returning to Australia to 'earn the trust back' from his family.
