A 25-year-old man has drowned at Sydney's Parramatta Lake just six days after an almost identical tragedy. 

Emergency services rushed to the popular swimming spot about 5pm on Monday after reports a man failed to resurface.

Local police, Marine Area Command, NSW Ambulance paramedics and Surf Lifesavers underwent an extensive search of the lake.

Just before 8pm, the man's body was located.

The tragedy comes just six days after a 23-year-old man also drowned at Parramatta Lake (pictured) after failing to resurface

Emergency services rushed to the popular swimming spot (pictured) about 5pm on Monday after reports a man failed to resurface

'He has been formally identified as a 25-year-old man from Carlton,' NSW Police said in a statement.

'Police have been informed that the man was at the location with friends when he entered the water.

'There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.'

The tragedy comes just six days after a 23-year-old man also drowned at Parramatta Lake after failing to resurface
