A woman has reportedly been stabbed with a screwdriver at Australia's most famous beach.
New South Wales Police were called to the scene shortly after 11am on Friday with ten officers responding to the call.
The woman, 36, was attacked near Wayside Chapel on Roscoe St, just metres from the popular beach.
She was treated for a head injury and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
It's understood she was able to walk into the back of a responding ambulance.
It is not yet known if the attacker has been arrested.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced.
As inquiries continue, anyone with information, CCTV footage or dashcam vision in relation to the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
