A pair of brazen thieves have broken into Jeff Fenech's Sydney home overnight in an attempt to steal the Aussie boxing legend's luxury cars, leaving his family absolutely 'terrified'.

The four-time world champion, wife Suzee, daughter Kaylaa and boyfriend were asleep in the Five Dock home when burglars broke through a laundry window at around 4am on Tuesday morning.

Fenech told 2GB's Ben Fordham that the thieves were after keys to the family's cars.

'It's scary and very terrifying,' Fenech said.

'We woke up early this morning to see police doing their job.

Two thieves were apprehended afterwards in a nearby park and keys to the cars retrieved

'We found out that the people they were chasing had already robbed our house.

'We were lucky. The police have done a great job and they stopped them'

The intruders stole keys to all of The Marrickville Mauler's cars - which include two Audis, a Mercedes and a Lexus

Police and forensics were at Fenech's home on Tuesday morning to investigate further.

'These crooks were walking down the street and saw an Audi, a Merc, and another beautiful Audi, they saw my house and then came through the side and broke through the laundry window standing on a chair,' Fenech told News Corp.

'If I came down (from the upstairs bedroom), they were in trouble, brother. No-one comes into my house.'

The men were reportedly apprehended in a nearby park and the keys to Fenech's cars retrieved.

'There is video of them hiding behind our wall when my daughter's boyfriend walked out of the house,' Fenech said.

The former world champion boxer says the thieves would have been in trouble if he'd discovered them in the act

'We don't know what else they took, we are going through it all now. I know they have two guys in custody now.

'My wife and daughter are shaken. This all makes me feel sick. It's frightening for my family, and me too, it's not good.

'They are idiots, they're in trouble.'
