A man allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, put her body in the passenger seat of his SUV and drove to the Florida City police station to surrender to authorities.
Police said Alexander Roque, 48, confessed to killing his girlfriend, 44-year-old Yessenia Rodriguez Marquez, who they found dead in the passenger seat with a gunshot wound to her head on Saturday night.
Roque was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and booked into jail on Sunday morning.
The suspect appeared in court on Monday where Judge Mindy S. Glazer denied him bond, castigated him for allegedly sending a picture of Marquez's lifeless body to his cousin and hinted that the state 'may charge it as a first-degree murder.'
NBC 6 captured the moment officers surrounded Roque's white car and arrested him with no resistance. The weapon was allegedly found next to Marquez' body.

A police report obtained by 7 News Miami claimed that Roque reached out to Marquez's estranged ex-husband before driving to the police station and surrendering himself.
Roque allegedly sent the ex-husband, whom Marquez shared an 11-year-daughter with, a photo of the victim's dead body before video calling him.
The Miami Herald reported that the husband recorded the call and handed it over to police for evidence.
During the call, Roque supposedly panned over to the victim, Marquez, who was dead in a bloody front passenger seat, the same way police found her at the station.
Police also said Roque texted his cousin with pictures of Marquez's body, who told Roque to turn himself in.
Marquez's former sister-in-law told 7 News Miami that months before the slaying, Roque kidnapped Marquez and her young daughter.

Marquez's ex-husband and the father of their daughter intervened and got them freed, according to the ex-sister-in-law.
Tragically, it wasn't enough to prevent Marquez's death.
'[Roque] was kidnapping them at home,' the former sister-in-law said. 'She said she doesn't want to continue with the relationship, and then he continued calling her many times. Calling and then finally this happened.'
She added: 'I don’t have anything bad to say about Yessenia. She’s very quiet. hard worker, and she was very happy to be here in the United States,' the former sister-in-law said.
Outside the police station, officers ordered Roque to get out of the car and found Marquez dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
First responders tried to save Marquez at the scene but were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead.
The Miami-Dade Police's homicide division has taken over the case and will continue to investigate Roque's motive for allegedly killing his girlfriend.
DailyMail.com reached out to Miami-Dade Police and Florida City police for comment.
Roque is expected back in court Tuesday.
