The Guardians' win against the Blue Jays on Friday was marred by violence in the stands involving 'drunk and belligerent fans' - and a bowl of nachos thrown in a woman's face.

Footage has emerged on social media showing older fans brawling, with punches thrown, t-shirts ripped and one man knocked to the floor.

Police officers were forced to intervene while other fans filmed the fight, which is said to have been sparked by one group of fans accusing another of trying to have them ejected from the game.

A mom involved in the scrap has now spoken out, claiming: 'The only reason the fight started was because the couple behind us were drunk and belligerent.

Brandi Pierce told Outkick that her family left the stands in search of food because a group behind them would not stop screaming.

'As we (returned to our seats) a police officer came down and told them to calm down, or they would be removed,' she claimed.

According to Pierce, one of the group - a blonde lady - accused her stepdaughter of calling the cops.

'It escalated quickly enough when she jumped at my stepdaughter (who wouldn’t hurt a fly) and threatened her while pulling the back of my shirt,' Pierce claimed. 'So, I slammed a bowl of chicken nachos in her face and the fists flew from there.'

In the footage, Piece - wearing a red top - can be seen punching the blonde lady, who falls to the floor before she is lifted up by a man and taken away. Moments later, another man confronts a grey-haired fan and knocks him to the floor.

'We didn’t want to fight,' Pierce added. 'But my stepdaughter didn’t deserve a 40-year-old woman getting in her face.'

The Guardians went on to win the game 7-1 in Toronto.
