Brazilian baby who went viral seconds after she was born by frowning at doctor is now a 'smart, affectionate and intelligent' 3-year-old girl

The newborn who became a social media meme when she frowned at a doctor moments after she was delivered in the operation room is all grown up now.

Isabela Rocha, 3, made headlines on February 13, 2020, after she did not oblige the obstetrician, who was trying to get her to cry after birth – a sign that the lungs are functioning.

Instead, she was unimpressed and glared at the physician, who asked her to cry before cutting her umbilical cord. The memorable moment was snapped and instantly became a meme. 

However, her mom has revealed that the 'angry meme baby' has grown to be 'smart, affectionate and intelligent.' 

In a recent interview with Brazilian magazine Crescer, her mother admitted the family never thought the photos were going to make her daughter famous.

'It was certainly something that never crossed our minds as first-time parents, but it was a moment that happened naturally,' Daiane Barbosa said. 'We thought it was super funny and welcomed all the national and international repercussion of Isabela's angry photo!'

Rocha eventually let out her first cry before she was placed in front of her mother, Barbosa, for their first kiss.

Rocha has seen the famous meme picture and even questioned why she was angry at the time, but her mother has withheld the answer.

Rocha's day-to-day life revolves around attending day care and participating in extracurricular activities that include swimming lessons.

'She loves school and her friends, she knows everyone's names,' Barbosa said.

Rocha also has her own Instagram account that her mother sometimes cleans up because of negative comments.

'Raising a child for the world is very difficult!! But I just ask God that she grows up and becomes a great woman!,' Barbosa said.
