A country music singer is singing the blues in Brazil after he was arrested Friday for allegedly scamming at least 26 women he met on dating sites.
Wagner Oliveira reportedly swindled up to $203,000 from his victims in the Federal District.
The 42-year-old for the most part targeted women who were single mothers between the ages of 30 and 45, the civil police said.
He also made sure that they were financially stable and that they had recently moved to the area, which is home to the capital, Brasilia.
Oliveira set up multiple profiles on social media platforms, disguising his identity under different professions. In one, he claimed to be involved in the agriculture business and in another he stated that he was the father of two girls.

Investigators found that Oliveira would get the women’s phone numbers and contact them via WhatsApp.
He would cozy up to them, profess his love and talk about plans of building a family.
Once the women were fully invested in him, Oliveira would approach them about setting up loans under their names, financing purchases and buying goods.
Oliveira would promise the women that they would be paid back in a matter of days, claiming he was awaiting money from jobs that he had completed, profits that he was expecting from a business that was set to open or the sale of a property.
He allegedly conned one woman into taking out a bank loan that left her with a loss of $1,720 and also had another woman loan him $4,350.
Another woman accused him of using her personal documents without permission to borrow $2,430 from a bank.

She claimed that Oliveira applied psychological pressure to finance a Fiat for 36 payments totaling $5,940. He reportedly never made a payment.
Oliveira also dated a woman who used her credit card to make a store purchase for $1,420. He would allegedly then finance a Fiat using her personal information without her permission and left her with a loss of $26,300.
The victims told the police that he would intimidate them to stop them from reporting him to authorities.
Oliveira is being investigated for embezzlement, coercion and theft, and is facing up to 18 years in prison if he is convicted.
His arrest comes two weeks after another Brazilian con artist got an additional two years and four months tacked on to a sentences totaling of 19 years for scamming at least seven women, including a teacher, he met on dating sites.
