Brennan Johnson left the pitch with his face covered in blood after being withdrawn from Tottenham's Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest with a deep head cut.
The 22-year-old attacking talent was making his first return to the City Ground after departing Forest for Spurs in a £47.5m move but was forced off after just 32 minutes.
Johnson was helping defend Tottenham's box when he accidentally clashed heads with Forest defender Willy Boly and subsequently collapsed to the ground.
The horror collision caused team medics to run onto the pitch as play was immediately stopped while Johnson was given treatment and time to recover.
It was clear he wouldn't be able to continue when Johnson sat up and could be seen with blood on his head. He was then helped to his feet and off the pitch by former team-mate Morgan Gibbs-White.

Johnson's deep head wound meant he headed straight down the tunnel to receive further treatment, while chants from Forest supporters rang around the ground.
The Wales international came through the ranks at the club and was cheered off in heartfelt fashion to calls of 'he's one of our own' by home fans.
It was a frustrating end to his evening as the Spurs summer recruit was replaced by midfielder Oliver Skipp and Dejan Kulusevski moving out to the right-wing where Johnson was playing.
Kulusevski would later provide the assist for the opening goal as Ange Postecoglou's side took the lead on the stroke of half time through Richarlison's header.
Johnson had previously discussed how much returning to his former club meant to him in an interview with Sky Sports before the match.
'When you sign you look out for certain games, obviously, the derbies and when you go back to your old team and I saw it was in December, so it wasn't too long, but I'm really excited to go.
'I think it'll be a good reception. I hope. The fans were unbelievable to me even when times were tough last season and I wasn't playing my best football.
'I think I never had any really bad interactions with any fans and you can see it at the minute now they went for a little bit of a bad period and you can see the fans after the game so always sticking with the team and that's something that I'm really thankful for', he added.
