Brittany Higgins' explosive document that her fiancé David Sharaz 'gave half the Parliament House press gallery while she was passed out on Valium' is revealed

Brittany Higgins told the Federal Court last week that she was supposed to remove Bruce Lehrmann's name from a timeline of her rape allegations before it was given to journalists, but she forgot.

Ms Higgins told the Federal Court on Friday that she created a timeline of her alleged rape in 2021 - two years after the fact - for her own records and for police.

The timeline was uploaded to the court's website.

It lists a number of family members, friends and colleagues who knew about her rape allegations, along with their relationship to Ms Higgins and how they found out about the alleged assault.

At the end of that list, the document says: 'Bruce Lehrmann, former advisor to Minister Reynolds, Perpetrator.' (Mr Lehrmann has always denied Ms Higgins' rape allegation).

In court last week, Ms Higgins said her now-fiance David Sharaz distributed that timeline to 'half the press gallery' in Canberra in February 2021, while she was 'passed out on Valium'.

There are about 250 journalists in the media gallery.

On Friday, Mr Lehrmann's barrister Steven Whybrow asked Ms Higgins why the document was distributed with her alleged rapist's name on it.

'It was meant to be redacted,' Ms Higgins said.

Mr Whybrow asked: 'By who?'

She replied: 'By me.'

He asked why it had Mr Lehrmann's name on it at all, to which Ms Higgins said it was originally meant for herself and police.

Mr Whybrow continued: 'So it was an accident that naming Mr Lehrmann as the perpetrator that was then distributed to the entire Canberra press gallery?'

Ms Higgins agreed.

Brittany Higgins had a Bumble date on March 22, 2019 - the night she alleges Bruce Lehrmann raped her.

In court on Tuesday, Ms Higgins was questioned about whether she deliberately deleted contacts in her phone, and told the court she couldn't recall her date's name.

Ms Higgins said she normally archives messages from people she doesn't speak to anymore.

Mr Whybrow said: '"Archive" suggests there's a copy somewhere, and there isn't one.'

Ms Higgins said she wasn't sure, before Mr Whybrow brought up messages with her Bumble date.

'In relation to Nick...' he started.

'Oh, his name's Nick, cool, I didn't know his name,' she interjected.

Mr Whybrow said: 'Ms Higgins, that's a lie - you referred to him as Nick in your draft book.'

Ms Higgins appeared surprised, before she said: 'No, I've been highly traumatised being questioned over this.'

Mr Whybrow continued: 'I suggest you've always known his name was Nick.'

At that point, Ms Higgins laughed.

'As you go through my phone, you know I've referred to him as "Bumble Guy",' she told the court.

Ms Higgins conceded she may have known his name when she drafted the book in 2021, but she had since forgotten.

Brittany Higgins told the Federal Court that she texted her now-fiance David Sharaz to say 'I'm clearing my phone out ahead of giving it to the police' because she wanted to delete an embarrassing photo.

Ms Higgins was asked several times to hand her phone to police for the investigation into her rape allegations against Brce Lehrmann.

She eventually handed it over in May 2021.

Mr Lehrmann's barrister Steven Whybrow asked her what her message to Mr Sharaz meant.

She said: 'I deleted one photo that I wanted deleted - I was at a party and someone put a 'Make America Great Again' hat on me, and it didn't mean anything, but I was ashamed,' she told the court.

Mr Whybrow said: 'I suggest you deleted more than one photograph.'

Ms Higgins said she only deleted the one photograph, but later conceded she regularly archives contacts on her phone.

He asked her about a number of messages that didn't appear on her phone, and she explains that she archives people that she no longer speaks to.

Some conversation, she said, were archived because they 'triggered' her'.

She told the court that she had several iCloud accounts and several different devices for her employment and for personal use.

'It wasn’t malicious or anything,' Higgins said.

'Between having five phones in five years and not having the one iCloud account, I had a separate iCloud account for work, and data just got lost.'

Brittany Higgins told the Federal Court that she was supposed to go on a date with Parliament House security guard, Alex Woods, on the weekend of March 23, 2019.

Under cross-examination by Bruce Lehrmann's barrister Steven Whybrow SC on Tuesday, Ms Higgins said she didn't know Mr Woods was working at 8am the morning after she alleged she was raped.

'We were meant to have a date that weekend but after being raped I couldn't see anyone and I wasn't coping,' she said.

Mr Whybrow asked: 'Are you making things up as you go along, Ms Higgins?'

Ms Higgins said she wasn't making things up. She then agreed that she texted Mr Woods at about 11am that morning.

'You didn't ask him if he heard anything about you,' Mr Whybrow said.

'I don't recall,' she replied.

Mr Whybrow said Ms Higgins texted Mr Woods about five times on the Saturday she alleges she was raped.

Ms Higgins said Mr Woods had bought tickets to a comedy show, and she texted him to say she couldn't go.

Mr Whybrow then asked her why Mr Woods' name was mislabelled in her phone as her housemate, whose name was Alex Humphries.

'Were you trying to hide Mr Woods' existence?' Mr Whybrow asked.

'I wasn't trying to hide anything,' she replied.

She said the texts with Mr Woods were not in her phone because they were 'archived'.

Bruce Lehrmann's defamation trial started on Tuesday with a ruling from Justice Michael Lee to say Brittany Higgins could be cross-examined about her speech outside the ACT Supreme Court last year.

Ms Higgins made the speech on October 27 last year - just after the jury in Mr Lehrmann's criminal trial was dismissed.

She generally spoke as though she was a proven victim of sexual assault rather than an alleged victim.

She said: 'I chose to speak up. To speak up against rape, speak up against injustice, to speak up and share my experiences with others. I told the truth, no matter how uncomfortable or unflattering, to the court.

'Today’s outcome does not change that truth. When I did speak up, I never fully understood how asymmetrical the criminal justice system is, but I do now.'

At that time, Bruce Lehrmann was charged with sexual assault and had a new trial date set down for February 2023.

The ACT Chief Justice had warned media and individuals not to publish anything about the forthcoming trial to ensure Mr Lehrmann got a fair trial.

Ms Higgins told the court on Friday that she knew that she should not comment on Bruce Lehrmann's rape trial, but gave her speech anyway.

In his ruling on Tuesday, Justice Lee brought up a five-hour recorded meeting Ms Higgins had with her now-fiance David Sharaz, Lisa Wilkinson and a Channel Ten producer.

During that meeting, recorded in January 2021 - a few weeks before her allegations were televised on The Project - Ms Higgins could be heard saying she thought she could win a civil case against Mr Lehrmann.

She then noted that she didn't think he could be proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in a criminal trial.

Bruce Lehrmann is suing Lisa Wilkinson and Network 10 in the Federal Court over her 2021 interview with Brittany Higgins where she alleged he raped her in Parliament House in 2019.

He was not named, but claims friends and former colleagues were able to identify him as the alleged rapist.

He has continually maintained his innocence.

The trial began on November 22 and Mr Lehrmann gave evidence over five days.

Brittany Higgins started her evidence-in-chief last Tuesday. On Wednesday, she detailed her alleged rape in graphic detail.

Her cross-examination started on Thursday and will continue on Tuesday.
