Bronny James is CLEARED by doctors for a full return to basketball and will practice with USC next week just four months after suffering cardiac arrest

LeBron James's son, Bronny James, has been cleared to fully return to basketball four months after he suffered cardiac arrest.

The 19-year-old suffered cardiac arrest during a training session with USC at the school's Galen Center on July 25 and was later revealed to have a treatable congenital heart defect.

Bronny warmed up with his teammates before a game earlier this month and LeBron and family confirmed that he has now been given the all clear to compete on the court once again.

'Bronny James is now cleared by his doctors for a full return to basketball. Bronny will have a final evaluation with USC staff this week, resume practice next week, and return to games soon after,' a statement from the James family read.

'The James family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible medical team, the entire USC community, and especially the countless friends, family, and fans for their love and support. Fight On!'

Bronny has slowly been taking steps towards a return over the past four months,  beginning with some individual work before games before participating in a warm up with his teammates.

After Bronny's first warmup with the Trojans, USC coach Andy Enfield: 'It was great. He went through warmups with the team. He's a big part of our program and our team. He's a terrific teammate.

'We look forward to hopefully one day getting him back on the court but when that day is, that's not my decision. We're going to patient and go through the process.'

Despite being unable to play, the youngster has been cheering on his collegiate teammates from the bench at every single one of their games this year.

The Trojans are currently 4th in the Pac-12, going 5-2 after a 106-78 win over the Eastern Washington Eagles Wednesday night.

The Trojans (5-2) play No. 11 Gonzaga in Las Vegas on Saturday. Their next home game is December 10 against Long Beach State.

Bronny, who committed to USC in May, took another step on the path to following his father's basketball footsteps by choosing to wear his iconic No 6 at the school for his freshman year.

His father LeBron, of course, is synonymous with the No 6 from his glittering career with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat - although he has also worn No 23 before.

LeBron is believed to want to keep playing in the NBA until Bronny can join him in the league.

LeBron James' eldest son, 19, showed off some of his moves while involved in a dunking drill

'I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny,' James told ESPN in January.

'Either in the same uniform or a matchup against him,' he said. '. . . But I would love to do the whole Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. thing. That would be ideal for sure.'

James is under contract for two more years in LA while his son could enter the NBA in the 2024 Draft after playing a season at USC.

Several programs had been interested in Bronny but he ultimately committed to USC in May.

The younger James announced his decision on Instagram, ending more than a year of speculation about his future. 'Fight On,' he wrote, referencing a Trojans slogan and adding the hashtag, '#committed.'

Unsurprisingly, Bronny chose a Nike school, aligning him with the apparel giant that has helped turn his father into a billionaire. And as an added benefit, he is remaining in the LA area, playing less than an hour from his high school, Sierra Canyon.

Bronny's commitment was a major coup for a basketball program that has traditionally been overshadowed by Trojans football.

Coach Andy Enfield's team has reached the NCAA Tournament for three consecutive seasons but has been bounced in the first round in each of the last two years.

Enfield previously got commitments from Isaiah Collier, who is considered by many to be the top recruit in the class of 2023. The 6-foot-3 guard could team in the Trojan backcourt with Bronny next season. Furthermore, four-star center Arrinten Page has also committed to USC.
