Milwaukee Bucks point guard Patrick Beverley is under police investigation after throwing a ball at an Indiana Pacers fan during Game 6 of their first-round playoff series.

On Wednesday, TMZ confirmed that the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is taking up a case report after Beverley hurled the ball twice toward a fan at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The representative from IMPD told TMZ the report has been forwarded to detectives, who are trying to access more footage of the incident from the arena and get statements from the parties involved.

The source added that detectives are expected to send their findings to prosecutors as soon as they finish the probe.

While Beverley has yet to address the criminal investigation publicly, he expressed how his actions were 'inexcusable' on The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone.

Patrick Beverly is a disgrace to the profession. This coupled with his postgame antics should warrant a lengthy suspension. No respect at all.

The incident happened during Game 6 of the Bucks' opening-round series against the Pacers

'What I did was bad, and that should have never happened,' Beverley admitted. 'I have to be better, and I will be better. Regardless of what was said, that should have never happened. Simple as that.'

'I've been called a lot of stuff in this league, I haven't been called that one,' he continued without disclosing what was said. 'Still inexcusable. It doesn't matter what was said.'

Beverley's initial throw appeared to miss his target and ended up hitting a woman in the head. After a nearby fan lobbed the ball back to the 14-year veteran, Beverley threw an aggressive chest pass into the stands.

As Beverley seemingly jawed with someone in the crowd, the escalation led security to intervene. Beverley would remain on the bench as Indiana ultimately won 120-98 to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The investigation sprung from an IMPD report from May 2 that confirmed an off-duty police officer witnessed the interaction.

Beverley later admitted that his actions were 'inexcusable' on the Pat Bev Podcast with Rone

The Pacers ultimately won the game 120-98 to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals

'The report has been forwarded to IMPD detectives, who are currently investigating this situation and take all accusations seriously,' IMPD said in a statement. 'Detectives are working with Gainbridge Fieldhouse to review video footage and plan to speak with the parties involved.'

The NBA also announced that it will investigate the situation, with potential fines and suspensions for Berveley following the altercation.

Despite the possibility of heavy consequences on the horizon, Beverley reiterated how he is not one to get fans kicked out of arenas.

'I'm not the guy to get fans kicked out neither,' Beverley said. 'The things that were said to me, I could have got four or five fans kicked out. Security walked up to me [and said]: 'You wanna get that fan thrown out?''

'Nah, man. You can say anything when you're winning,' he added. 'I'm not getting no fans kicked out. People who spend money to watch us play, I'm not getting them kicked out. You can say anything, just don't be disrespectful.'
