Celtic are on the brink of signing Aston Villa keeper Viljami Sinisalo.

The 22-year-old is poised to move to Glasgow on a permanent deal and will start as back-up to Kasper Schmeichel under Brendan Rodgers.

Capped three times by Finland, the 6ft 3in keeper has already played in Scottish football having spent season 2020-21 on loan at Ayr United.

Sinisalo, who came through the ranks at Villa Park, has also spent time at Burton and was farmed out to Exeter last term.

With Joe Hart now retired and Benji Siegrist likely to move on, Rodgers was always in the market for two keepers this summer.

Schmeichel, who played under Rodgers at Leicester, will join as a free agent after spending last season with Anderlecht.

Meanwhile, Juventus are the latest club to be credited with an interest in Matt O’Riley.

The midfielder was the subject of a failed bid from Atalanta last week with reports in Italy claiming that the Turin giants are now hot on his trail.

O’Riley, who is under contract until 2027, is also interesting Southampton and Leicester.

Celtic head to the USA this week for games against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea.
