Edward Lawrence Sr. proved that age is just a number as he reached 103 on Sunday and reminisced about his life at a community center in Charleston, South Carolina.
On the subject of his advice shared above, the former plumber and maintenance worker said, 'You live long if you mind your own business.'
Families and friends surrounded Lawrence as the birthday celebration at the Accabee community center in North Charleston was captured by the local station Live 5 News.
Born in Charleston in 1920, Lawrence served as a master plumber and a maintenance supervisor at the City of Charleston Housing Authority.

His family members stepped forward, each taking their turn to recount cherished memories from his long life, while Lawrence, wearing a cozy plaid shirt and a Nike cap, sat on the stage.
The 103-year-old man sat surrounded by balloons, a birthday cake, and admiring family and friends, all acknowledging his commitment to the community throughout his life.
A family member revealed that he continued to work as a plumber for the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church until the age of 99.
Ha had also served as a plumber and a maintenance supervisor at the City of Charleston Housing Authority for four decades.

In a social media post, Lawrence's family member, Wilhelmina Tisdale, shared photos that show him enjoying his birthday in a backyard, living life to the fullest.
'Happy 103th Birthday Mr. Edward Lawrence "Bubba". May GOD Bless You Always. Love You,' Tisdale wrote in the caption.
