Chelsea Handler has thrown her hat in the ring in the drama surrounding resurfaced comments from JD Vance

Handler - in the midst of her Las Vegas residency - took to Instagram to issue her own response, after Vance told Tucker Carlson that the US, via 'the Democrats', were being run by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.

'It's just a basic fact,' Vance told Carlson in 2021, spawning a delayed firestorm that's seen celebs like Jennifer Aniston weigh in. 'You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children.'

Handler, on Sunday, rushed to Harris's defense - pointing out how  figures like George Washington did not have biological children and only stepkids, like Harris.

She also reminded onlookers of the obvious fact that no sitting president in history has been a mother - using that to suggest Vance's point was moot anyway.

'But maybe if she had five kids with three different men, and a scandalous affair with a porn star and was convicted felon, that would be more palatable to Republican men,' she added sarcastically, referencing Vance's running mate Donald Trump.

'I mean, My god, are we tired,' she went on, feigning exasperation.

'You sad Diet-Mountain-Dew-drinking-couch-humping-dolphin-porn-afficionado.'

Aside from referencing recent headlines surrounding the junior senator, Handler's response was sarcastic and succinct.

She started by introducing him as 'the future star of his own Dateline episode' - one that is ruffling quite a few feathers this week.

Responding to the now viral clip, the 49-year-old former host Chelsea Lately proceeded to speak to Vance, 39, directly.

'Listen up you wingnut elegy, this country is still controlled by men and systems that were set up by men that are carefully crafted to continue to benefit men,' she said.

'So, to put it in women-hating terms you understand, you're being hysterical.

'But let's be clear,' she continued. 'There is no correlation between childless people and the presidency.

The comedienne was responding to a resurfaced 2021 interview where Vance told Tucker Carlson that the country was being run 'by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives'

Handler - in the midst of her Las Vegas residency - pointed out how presidents like George Washington did not have biological kids in her own response

'For example, our very first United States president, Mr. George Washington, didn't have children.

'In fact, he had two stepchildren,' she said.

'That's right, just like someone else I know,' she added, as the video cut to a photo of Harris, husband Doug Emhoff, and their adult children.

'And to your point about Kamala not being fit because she's not a mother,' she went on, putting emphasis and air-quotes around the word 'mother', 'I'd like to remind you that no president in the history of the United States has ever been [one].

'All of us childless cat and dog ladies are going to go from childless and crushing it to childless and crushing you in November,' Handler finished before offering one parting remark that referenced recent controversy surrounding the senator and claims he had sex with a couch.

'And before you tell me he didn't really f**k a couch, spare me,' Handler said to this.

'I grew up in New Jersey in the '80s where everyone had a couch in their basement and I know a couch f**ker when I see one.'

The clip ended there, and has since amassed nearly 200,000 likes.

The response shows how much attention the controversy is receiving, less than two weeks after Trump, 78, named Vance his running mate at the the Republican National Convention.

A slew of headlines surrounding the senator have emerged since - including the one where he casually told the former Fox News talking head women that without kids don't have a 'direct stake' in the future of America, and are 'miserable... at their choices'.

On Saturday, Aniston, 55, said: 'Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.

'I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.'

In response, Vance - who has three children with wife Usha Chilukuri Vance - said: 'That’s disgusting, because my daughter is 2 years old.'

Aniston wasn't the only person hurt by Vance's remarks, with people across the country responding on social media platforms galore.

'My cats and I are MORE than ready to do everything we can to elect President Kamala Harris! #YesWeKam,' one supporter wrote.

Ella Emhoff, the vice president's step-daughter, also responded on Instagram, writing : 'How can you be "childless" when you have cutie pie kids like Cole and I,' referring to her brother, and Harris' stepson, Cole.

Their biological mother Kerstin also came to Harris's aid.

The Ohio junior senator and his wife Usha Chilukuri Vance attend the Republican National Convention earlier this month. He honed in Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and AOC in his three-year-old remark

'These are baseless attacks,' she wrote in her own post.

'For over 10 years, since Cole and Ella were teenagers, Kamala has been a co-parent with Doug and I.

'She is loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it.'

Meanwhile, recently rushing to Vance's defense was SpaceX and Tesla boss Elon Musk, who, accused the Vice President Harris of  wanting to see the extinction of the human race.

'Shamala is an extinctionist,' Musk wrote in reference to a Vance tweet sharing a clip of Harris saying young people have anxiety over the climate crisis.

'The natural extension of her philosophy would be a de facto holocaust for all of humanity!' Musk said.

'I've heard young leaders talk to me about a term they coined called climate anxiety, right?' Harris said in the resurfaced video, as politicians and celebs continue to pick sides in the strange debacle.

Several other figures have since rushed to social media to the the vice president's defense. She is seen delivering remarks at a campaign event in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on Saturday

Vance voted against the Democrat-led Right to IVF Act last month, though was supportive of a GOP-sponsored bill, which would strip states of Medicaid funding if they barred IVF treatment. Some have begun to air concerns about him as the GOP's VP pick

'Which is fear of the future and the unknown, of whether it makes sense for you to even think about having children.'

Vance voted against the Democrat-led Right to IVF Act last month, though was supportive of a GOP-sponsored bill, the IVF Protection Act, which would strip states of Medicaid funding if they barred IVF treatments.

During a Q&A with Kelly over the weekend, Vance explained that he was for IVF within reason, has many experts and conservative commentators like Ben Shapiro begin to air concerns about the GOP's VP picl.

'I think we have to protect the rights of Christian hospitals to operate the way that they want to operate,' he said. 'But of course, that's totally consistent with promoting fertility treatments for parents who need it.'

Meanwhile, one the latest episode of his self-titled show, Shapiro joined the many jumping on the bandwagon of slamming the senator amid the outrage the resurfaced interview has incited.

'I think he  probably would have picked somebody like Glenn Youngkin from Virginia in an attempt to broaden out his base,' he said referencing GOP candidate Trump.

“'Instead, he went with J.D. Vance, feeling, because he was right at the time, he had a very solid advantage in the race against Joe Biden.'

Harris, who has yet to be confirmed as the Democratic candidate, has yet to name a running mate.
