Andrew Flintoff's teenage son Rocky hit his first century for Lancashire on Tuesday, with his impressive knock containing a number of shots reminiscent of his famous dad at his peak.

Rocky only made his debut for Lancashire second XI earlier this month, just two days after his 16th birthday, and he smashed an unbeaten half-century last week against Durham.

He was at it again when Lancashire's second team took on Warwickshire on Tuesday, this time going one better as he scored 116 from 165 balls.

Rocky shared a 39-run partnership with elder brother Corey, 18, but it was the younger sibling who took centre stage.

A highlights package of his best shots appeared on Lancashire cricket's social media accounts, with Rocky hitting two brilliant pulls to the boundary, as he treated the short ball with similar disdain to his father, who was not afraid to take on Australian greats Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee when they tested his mettle in the iconic 2005 Ashes.

Andrew Flintoff was known for his power-hitting as he starred in the iconic 2005 Ashes, and that trait certainly seems to run in the family

It was fitting that Rocky's first century came at Edgbaston, the same venue that his father delivered a man of the match performance in one of the greatest Test matches ever, when England beat Australia by two runs in that 2005 series.

Rocky went through his full repertoire of strokes, with a couple of clips through mid-wicket also catching the eye.

He showed he has more than just power in his locker, though, displaying his deft touch at times as he picked gaps in the field.

The teenage sensation brought up his ton with a backfoot drive through the off-side, and punched the air in delight as he ran through to the non-striker's end.

He looks to already be a major talent with the bat in hand, although it remains to be seen as to whether he can also make an impact with the ball and become an all-rounder like his dad.

Rocky appears destined for a very bright future, while his dad, who is affectionately known as Freddie by fans, has started to move into coaching in recent months after surviving a near-fatal car crash while filming Top Gear in December 2022.

He initially shied away from the media spotlight after being involved in a near-fatal car crash while filming Top Gear in December 2022, but he returned to cricket with facial marks last year

Flintoff, 46, stayed away from the media spotlight in the months after his crash having been left with significant facial markings, but gradually made his return to cricket in the latter stages of last summer.

He was part of the coaching setup for England's limited-overs series against New Zealand and Ireland, before travelling with the England Lions for a training camp in the UAE last autumn.

He also went away with the senior men's team for their tour of the West Indies in late 2023.

Having impressed with his work on the international stage, Flintoff was handed his first major coaching role when he was appointed head coach of the Northern Superchargers for The Hundred, which is set to return this summer.

He seems to have taught Rocky, who is the second-youngest of Flintoff and his wife Rachael's four children, very well, and if he continues at his current trajectory it may not be too long before Rocky starts edging closer to featuring for Lancashire's senior side in the County Championship.
