Chris Sutton believes that 'show pony' Antony has let Erik ten Hag down with his performances for Manchester United.

The Brazilian, who had joined his old Ajax boss at Old Trafford for a £85.5million fee in 2022, managed only three goals and two assists in a dismal campaign that also saw him lose his place in the starting line-up.

On Mail Sport's It's All Kicking Off! podcast, Sutton insisted that the Red Devils winger was the biggest underperformer of the 2023-24 season.

'[Antony] actually made me look value for money,' the former Blues striker Sutton joked. 'For the outlay on him, in terms of goals and assists they just simply haven't been there. He is a show pony. That's what he is and I think he's let Erik ten Hag down.'

However, Sutton's IAKO co-host Ian Ladyman disagreed and instead opted for Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo as his flop of the campaign. The 22-year-old was at the centre a high-profile tussle between Liverpool and Chelsea last summer before he eventually completed a move to Stamford Bridge for a British record £115million fee. Additionally, Sutton and Ladyman also revealed their choices for the biggest overachievers - which happened to involve two players with Chelsea connections.
