On a muggy night in Orlando, Florida, the United States men's national team was hoping to show that their 5-1 drubbing against Colombia was a fluke and that they could cope with the pressure brought on by big sides.
In front of over 60,000 fans in the former Citrus Bowl, the Americans bent but did not shatter like they did against Los Cafateros. Instead, against Brazil, the United States looked up for the task against a Seleção squad that appeared to struggle to take this match seriously at times.
After going down early, the Americans responded with a free kick goal from Christian Pulisic and that 1-1 scoreline held from minute 26 onward - with neither team able to generate meaningful chances in the second half.
The Americans spent the second half settling in for a siege from the Brazilians - often throwing a majority of their roster behind the ball and managing their first ever draw against the Seleção.
But while Brazil continued to probe and find spaces between the American backline, goalkeeper Matt Turner avenged his poor showing against Colombia with a ten-save night and a man of the match performance.

The Americans tried to surprise Brazil right off the bat with a Yunus Musah thunderbolt from over 30 yards out that just hit the crossbar.
But it was the Seleção that struck first after Chris Richards was unable to properly mark Rodrygo. A slide rule pass from Raphinha found the boots of the Real Madrid star who slotted it home in the 17th minute for a 1-0 lead.
It didn't take long for the Americans to respond after Pulisic was fouled at the top of the box.
On the ensuing free kick, the AC Milan winger avoided the wall entirely and still managed to beat Liverpool's Alisson at the keeper's right post to level the scoring.
Defensively, neither team finished the second half looking strong - with both teams making tactical adjustments for the following 45 minutes.
USMNT manager Gregg Berhalter was content to let his team sit deep and absorb the pressure from Brazilian stars like Vinicius Jr. and Lucas Paqueta and substitutes like Gabriel Martinelli and Endrick. Defenders Joe Scally, Chris Richards, Tim Ream, and Antonee Robinson bent but didn't break - blocking Brazilian shots or letting Turner grab onto the ball for big saves.

'We asked for teamwork and intensity,' Berhalter said to reporters after the game. 'And that's the type of effort that we saw today, the boys certainly delivered on that.'
Berhalter also said this was 'a good end to our preparation camp', but he also repeatedly referred to this as a 'small step' towards further progress at the Copa America.
'For us, looking at the starting XI against Colombia, I think the performance was average - we could've done better. Looking at the [substitutes], I thought the contribution was poor and that was something we wanted to have a better effect today.
'And I think the [substitutes] came in and did a much better job today... so overall, happy with their contribution.'
